About the product I can say that on the market you can not find another camera
that has the same specifications for the same amount of money. I run small company of video busines in Dominican Republic. Catamaran excursion is the place where I'm making video memory for the clients. Every day 3 of those cameras are
making footage on the boats in normal and extreme conditions. And not only on the boats , in the water also (snorkeling experience). In 6 months we didn't have a problem with Sanyo cameras ,but you need to be very carefull about opening and closing memory card slot. This is the only place where water can go in to the camera. So what can I say; I'm using Sanyo Xacti cameras profesionally and I got them for the price of normal amateur camera. Thumbs up!!!

Nice little camcorderWeather proof and a nice hd video. Easy to handle and use. The weaknesses are that the camera pictures are not that great and to use the zoom to any great range, you have to use a tripod or something else to hekp stabilize the picture

I bought this camcorder to record a fishing trip. I have not gone yet, but I have tried the camera.

It is tiny! It is easy to use, and image stabilization is excellent. The zoom is fantastic. The video quality is good (HD) in good light, but poor in low light. (the family thinks the picture quality is wonderful)

I don't think I will trust the waterproof seals, as I can see that the slightest speck of dust could cause a problem. However I love the fact that it is waterproof and can be carried on a boat or in the rain.

I miss not having a lens cap, but I would recommend this camcorder to my outdoor friends.

Sanyo VPC-WH1: Sanyo has low quality and does not stand behind product. Bought for a beach vacation and to record kids' baseball games (husband works out of state). No longer have vacation video and can't record games. First time used in water (snorkeling) camera leaked, ruined memory card (images lost) and camera no longer functions. We had made sure all covers were completely closed, wore a wrist strap and did not "jerk." 30 minutes later bubbles escaped from camera. Followed "wash" instructions per manual. No luck. Contacted customer support and supervisor. 90 day warranty on labor no exceptions. Emailed sanyoservice@custhelp.com and mailed corporate headquarters further clarifying our position - no response. The fact that Sanyo only warranties for 90 days says they know their product is low quality and they have to set a very short warranty period or lose money. They also obviously don't care about customer satisfaction.

used this in a 3 week hike trip through the Gates of the Arctic National Park, Had lots of rough weather and use. Held up very well, was not worried about breaking it or getting it wet. Video quality was great, did well in most conditions but was not a top performer in dim light or extremely bright/shiny conditions. Overall - an excellent camera, would definitely recommend it.

I give this two stars instead of one star because after all, it DOES go underwater, which is incredible at this price.

However, I never even got to try that feature out because after testing in full daylight, good interior light and low light situations, I could find no way to get a good enough recording on this camera. The colors are a little off, which is always forgivable at this price point and on a single chip camera. However, the CMOS distortion coupled with the poor H.264 implementation made for very low quality films.

It's a shame really, I would assume that even further, ALL of these issues would be forgivable for the fact that your videos could be underwater, but I didn't want to take the chance and just returned it.

The camera is used at a summer camp...originally purchased to film aquatics activities (pool parties, swim olympics, canoeing, etc.) but because of the image quality it's been used for much more than just aquatics activities.

Easy to use, waterproof, image quality, durable, etc. No real criticisms at this point.

This is a great entry level HD camera. It has a solid 720p picture and is ok in low light. It is extremely lightweight and portable for its capabilities. I would definitely recommend this camera.

I was looking for a small lightweight HD camera that shot to SD and I got just what I was looking for. It was smaller and lighter than I expected. It works well. I am using it to get some POV type shots in wet conditions. It has similar features and operation to any other consumer-level camcorder although it only records 720p. I can't wait to put it in the water!

It is a really cool little camera with a lot of adjustable features. In Low light you do have to adjust the exposure so it doesn't get grainy but that was expected from a camera that is only 300 bucks and not 3 CCD/ 3 CMOS. I filmed in a theater one night and when the stage was lit the video was very clear and no grain. The zoom is actually quite incredible and better than I expected. The dual cam vid features are wonderful and I haven't had a chance to try the underwater features but I will next month and I am looking forward to that. The construction is solid. It is light seems very durable. I plan on shooting a lot of underwater footage with this little gem and come on for the money it is a killer little cam and the underwater feature alone is worth the money! Great job!

So we looked long and hard for something we knew we would use and often. We love the water parks and the pool. With a baby on the way last summer we knew we had to have this when we found it. We watched youtube videos and read many reviews. Now that the baby is here and we have started swim classes we are thrilled with the quailty of this camera. Check out my youtube page at coondoga1. Videos of the my sons first time in the pool. This thing looks cool, feels cool and works awesome. And by the way it is rugged too, I kinda dropped it down the steps and it didnt even make a mark. We live in the Pacific Northwest Rain Forest and I needed a cheap, sturdy outside camera for an Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder giant clumsy 15-year old to use. This is camera.

Of course we love that it's water proof. When stuff gets thrown in the creek we can take the camera right in after it. Next week we're going skiing and I'm looking forward to not worrying about water issues. We put it on a Scorpion Stabilizer Handle to get some great shots above and below the water line.

I also like the record start/stop on the side and the auto filter for different light sources.

I still haven't read the whole manual so I don't know what all it can do yet. I kind of wish it had a nice fade in/out but I suppose that can be done in after effects.

We're getting about 2-hours off the included battery and 3:45 from a 16Gb card.

It broke after 4 uses; a complete waste of money. Note that this did not involve any underwater usage. The product's poor fit and finish was evident even before it stopped working (e.g., the battery and memory card doors would barely close).

I don't know if I had bad luck or what?, the camera was perfect, I used it on the outdoors and I was pretty exited, until I got in the water with it, DISASTER I dint go under for more than half of feet when the image broke down and the camera dint work any more the water got in so easy i was impressed because I double checked that everything was close properly and the bad side was that SANYO dint respond at all ! cheap warranty maybe thats the reason for the low price.

DONT KNOW WHAT TO BUY NOW!

This camcorder HD video is good. photo not good. I just got one only use 2 times, the power button stuck 2 times already, and suddenly no power on display. I recharged battery, still no power turn on with open LCD or press power button. So, I have to return this defective camorder.

I am a part time professional photographer, who has a client (an NGO in Papua New Guinea) who wants a video clip along with their photos. So I purchased this camcorder for traveling through the rain forests. I have done some testing on and it is picky to say the least. Unless you know the basics of cameras and how they work and use the camera in more of a manual mode, then the quality can be anything but good. It is, in auto, a point and shoot for memories only camera. HOWEVER when you change the exposure and ISO in particular the peak quality is actually really good, especially for the price. Youtube samples to see peak quality. such as [@]be aware, it has a small sensor so the quality and depth of field will suffer.

After 4 months camera stopped working. Warranty on labor is only 3 months, so go figure.

The camera is not expensive, however Playback quality is very poor in both standard as HD format. No, not a winner and basically trowing away money.

I purchased and returned this product. I bought it for:
-price
-cuteness
-good quality HD at 720p
-waterproof
I thought it would be fun and at the price I bought it, nearly disposable. I wouldn't cry for long if I dropped it in the ocean.

I returned it because:
-POOR video quality in low light. If you've ever experienced excellent 1080p for a few hundred bucks more, this one will disappoint. Outside it was solid, but indoors (where most of your holiday shots of the kids occur)it's a throwback to regular 8 film and the 1960's.
