I got this camera for a trip to China after doing considerable research for a small point-and-shoot. Was very happy with all aspects (great image size options up to 12mega-pixels, 640x480 video with sound, image stabilization --works great-- and the large LCD). The battery has a small, compact charger, and stood up well (only had to recharge 3 times in four weeks of moderate use!). There are lots of preset photo options, such as night portaits, fireworks, scenery, close-ups, etc. that work great.
The only thing I don't like is the very long lag between pressing the shutter button and the actual photo (makes taking a shot from a moving vehicle (boat, car) nearly impossible--I missed almost every shot due to the approximate 1 second delay!
It's hard to recommend any camera with that delay, but the very inexpensive price and otherwise stellar performance make this a keeper even with that substantial disadvantage.
