Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15 Digital Camera (Blue):
My husband works for a major car insurance company and has been issued Lumix cameras for years to do estimates on vehicles. When I needed to replace a Casio Exilim that broke after 2 years, I immediately started researching Lumix at different review sites and personally alongside others in its class.
This camera's Intelligent Mode makes taking snapshots that are portrait quality!
The stabilization system and Intelligent scene selection sold me on this, along with the glass Leica lens on this model. It's stylish, a pretty color, comfortable in small hands or large hands, and has a great circle zoom around the shutter. The automodes are all I use and I take gorgeous photos with this. I can finally get a photo of my dog, who moves every time you try to take a photo. This camera locks on and takes pics of her that are beautiful with none of the former blurring with other cameras.
My only little beef with this is that the included camcorder feature does not zoom, but that's not a dealbreaker, obviously. I mean, the camera is mainly for still shots anyway. Great big BRIGHT LCD screen at 2.7" has a "high angle" setting that keeps the LCD from graying out if you hold it at an unusual angle, you can still see the display clearly! Wonderful feature.
I compared this over a few days to a Casio Exilim 1080, a Nikon Coolpix S570, and a Casio Z80. This PANASONIC LUMIX FS15 takes better photos, "knows" what setting to use in most cases, and easily switches back and forth with a toggle from Intelligent mode to whichever mode you were in -- Normal picture, Movie, whatever. Keep you favorite type of scene saved in the My Scene list, and you can click the Mode button and get right to to it.
I had wanted to wait for the new model of this, which came out around the time I bought this camera, but I'm glad I didn't.
I'm a Lumix girl now, and will buy more as gifts and will upgrade in the future to fancier ones, but this is a brilliant little camera -- you can't go wrong with any Lumix, really. But these beats other brands in its class. Buy it with confidence!

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15 Digital Camera (Blue):
I bought this camera as a backup to my Canon G10. I like the G10 but the G10 is too big to fit in my pocket. Also I plan to take the Panasonic on fishing trips. It is not waterproof but at [$] it is not nearly as expensive as the G10. The G10 would represent a $500 loss as opposed to [$] for the panasonic. I was pleasantly surprised by this camera as it does take very good photos especially in good light. I would say that picture quality is almost as good as the G10. The G10 does have manual and raw as well as better indoor macro performance. However I really like the Panasonic's compact size and quality of construction. I have taken landscape photos as well as photos of protesters at the U.S. Capitol. Also I have taken high ISO shots of jazz musicians at the Adams Morgan festival. I would characterize the high ISO shots as a little better than average for a compact small sensor camera. Overall I like this camera a lot. Battery life is also very good about 200 photos. The only thing I do not like about this camera is it tends to hunt for focus even in good light though maybe this is a problem for a lot of compacts. In low light this camera has a tough time focusing. Sometimes there is lag between shots. For a [$] this camera is good deal and I recommend it. I would say I am a semiprofessional or part time photographer. Obviously a DSLR or top grade compact will outperform this panasonic but we are talking about a difference in price of over $300.

I am a novice when it comes to photography and use my camera for purely recreational purposes. I recently used it at my high school graduation and it was phenomenal. The pictures were clear, all I had to do was point and shoot and the focus usually worked as I intended. I tried using the intelligent auto feature, but didn't have much luck with it. I probably need more practice :) It also comes in my favorite color. This is a great camera!!
