I take photos of insects in my organic garden, as well as document events in the NYC subways that I use to accompany letters to our public officials. I also like to photograph fine art. I am not a very good photographer having started very late and am now a senior citizen. I therefore needed a camera that is easy to use, which seems to be the case. I have only had the camera for several weeks now. I find it hard to read the instruction manuel with all the symbols that are new to my generation. It would have been great if the CD that came with the camera clearly walked its users through the different functions in a user friendly maner, which I could not find. That I would have appreciated, for it is hard to understand many of the functions. The pictures that I took of my garden came out beautifully. Pictures I took in the subway were too dark. I imagine I still have to find the correct setting. I do not want to use the flash in the subway.

I got this camera to carry around with my in my bag for those unexpected moments when you don't want to carry around a big, clunky SLR (say, at the bars). I typically use it's intelligent auto function as a time saver and it's been working out really great. It takes crystal sharp pictures. I've also used the video function quite a bit. It doesn't do very well in the dark, but picks up great sound nonetheless. I'm also amazed at all the "scene" options it has, such as food, fireworks and even baby 1 and 2. I still have yet to use the last one.
