I own a Panasonic FZ8 and absolutely love it. It is a bit big for certain situations and I was looking for a smaller sized camera that still gave me a number of the options the FZ8 did.
I think I found it in the FS7. I had to cut back on the optical zoom--4x--whereas the FZ8 has 12x, but hopefully that won't be too much of an issue with where I use the FS7.
It doesn't have much space to place one's thumb on the backside for holding the camera and I would imagine a man would have a harder time.
I have a tendency to hit the Intelligent Auto button instead of the shutter button when taking a picture as the former is located just to the right of the latter and my fingers are used to finding the first button nearest the edge of the camera (FZ8).
It takes more button-pushing to change from one mode to another and even more to change to the scene modes, but what can one ask for when attempting to give lots of options in a compact size?
The package comes with a battery and a battery cover which is nice. It also comes with software for downloading and managing one's photos, but I will most likely not use this as my computer has its own that works perfectly well.
I have yet to take it anywhere specific, but have only been playing with taking different shots around my house and neighborhood.
The quality seems good. I will need more time with this camera to say anything more on that subject.

I purchased this camera to try and do some digiscoping and I think it will work well for this after I learn how to use the camera more effeciently. It is extremely light, compact and easy to carry. With IA mode it is a simple point and shoot. The other modes will require a learning curve. For indoors or low light the flash gives an off color and shiny spots, especially on skin. It is better to use no flash and let the camera compensate, Unfortunately 400 ISO is as high as you can go and still have a useable photograph at least for my 19" monitor. A small print might be fine for ISO 800 but you can definetly see the "splotchies" I have a friend with a TZ5 that does well at ISO 800 and also has a faster lens in telephoto mode, f4.9 instead of the FS7's f5.9 so it lets in more light. Thus I am thinking of going to its replacement the ZS3. Still for an easy to pack around camera with a good lens that only cost [$] and can be used to digiscope it is a great deal. Another great thing is Panasonic's exclusive extened telephoto is a fantastic feature. By setting the image to 3M pixels you can get up to a 7x telephoto. That is COOL!

Rated #1 in its category by "[@]". I gave it as a gift to a non-photographer, and got her to take some pictures - some into the sun, some backlit. Due to iA (intelligent Auto) the faces were in focus and correctly exposed on all shots. Shots with flash were also good, although flash range is limited (the camera will automatically use higher ISO if you're too far away and using flash). The LCD screen is more resolute than some other compacts in this price range. The performance of this camera is really quite good! A definite bargain.

I love this camera. This is my second one - I gave the first to my art-student son and missed it so much I bought another one. It is easy to use, takes very high quality photos, is lightweight, does all I want it to. Downside? It's over complicated in terms of what it can do, but this review is written by an artist, not a techie, so I don't see this as a big problem. I highly recommend this camera to slip in a purse, a pocket, a backpack, anywhere. Go get one.

Got this camera for my wife to use while I used my DSLR on a family vacation to Dinsey. It has a great feel and easy to use menu and with it's AI mode don't have to worry about changing the settings to often.

This is a brilliant little compact point and shoot camera, the price was right and the Artifical Intelligence is fantastic. Love the little features which make this camera a joy to use. Fantastic pictures from such a little camera. Fit's nicely into my pocket and is very light to carry around.

I haven't had a chance to check out all of the bells and whistles, but just straight point and shoot works great. Pics are nice and sharp.

I am still getting used to all the features it has, but it's been great so far. It has a really clear picture which is its best feature. Some of the things I don't like are that you can't zoom when video taping, long lag time etc. and they are minor.

I am a semi professional photographer. I use a Nikon D3 for work. My daughter wanted a point and shoot for her to use. My only problem with this camera is that I am using it more than she is.
You have to remember that it is a point and shot and not an SLR, but the photo quality is very, very good.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS7 Digital Camera (Blue):
I think for the price, this particular model is great. I have a Digital SLR, so this point-and-shoot is just for when I don't feel like lugging the fancy camera around. However, the Lumix DMC-FS7 performs almost as well. Good low-light photography, with or without the flash, a great Leica lens that provides great details of subject whether they are 3cm or 300 yards away, and a pretty simple interface that is easy to use.
My only wish is that it gave the user more control over the shutter speed. It seems to me that it controls the exposure through changing its own ISO and the aperture setting, which doesn't always work when I want to capture a fast-moving subject.
Good for you, your hobbies, use at work, easy to carry, pretty hard to damage. And it's also a good gift for others.

I bought it as a second camera so my kids wouldn't keep taking our camera on trips etc but it ends up that we all like this camera better and the pictures come out great with great lighting and focus.

I travel alot and love to party so I needed a camera that took very good pictures in different settings. I love that the pictures come out looking amazing and sharp. The one thing that I have found a little discouraging is that the flash is a little slow. Other than that I have captured photos from Colorado to Miami and they all look like professional photos!
