Comments about Intova SP8 Sport Digital Camera:
I took the Intova SP8 on 4 or 5 snorkeling trips where my swimming depth was always less than 10' At first I was very happy with this versatile all weather/waterproof camera BUT on my last trip to Maui the camera leaked just as I was leaving the ocean. A very small, normal sized waved splashed against the camera, but that was enough to force water inside which immediately "fried" my so called waterproof camera ... and yes, it was securely sealed. I spoke to several professional photographers and they said to never, ever take a camera into the ocean unless it has additional waterproof casing. This was a costly lesson to learn! If you buy this camera make sure you buy a case for it. Seawater is more dense than fresh and the depths for waterproof cameras are always based on fresh water! My other complaint concerns the image stabilization. Although it works well enough, it should also be the default setting for underwater photography. It's annoying to have to cycle through so many photo settings ... especially if you haven't used the camera in awhile.
