The Intova SP880K Digital Camera is really a kit that includes the 8.0 mega-pixel SP8 Sport digital camera and underwater housing. With this kit you can take photographs as you explore the ocean world both above and below the surface. This easy to use camera in the housing is good to depths of up to 130' (39.6 m). The camera without the housing is waterproof to 30' (9.14m). In case of a housing flood your camera is still protected.
Besides being waterproof the camera is incredibly durable, combining rugged body construction with shock-absorbing materials, making it the pocket camera of choice for divers, surfers, skiers, and all sorts of adventure seekers who wish to document their experiences in pictures and video. The rugged body and shock-absorbing construction are designed to withstand a three-foot fall or other impact.
The camera incorporates a high quality 3x optical zoom lens and a capture resolution of 8 megapixels to provide beautiful images. Plus it is loaded with features to make shooting easy and fun. A selection of shooting modes built into the camera cover many common shooting situations including portraits, sports, night, landscapes, and underwater modes. Users are therefore ready to take perfect shots with a minimum of fuss and effort.
Other unique features include Face Detection which tracks faces and automatically focuses and optimizes exposure for sharp, brilliant portrait pictures. It also has Digital anti-shake that captures sharp blur-free images. The camera also features 32MB of internal built-in memory and a SD Card slot that allows you to expand the memory to over 2GB, providing enough storage capacity for hundreds of images.
The camera flash can be used to take underwater photos, but an external strobe is recommended to improve color and reduce the illumination of particles suspended in the water. The Intova Slave Strobe is the perfect flash to use with this camera. The camera housing allows access to all camera functions.

Comments about Intova SP880K Camera and Housing Kit:
Pretty basic setup. Suffers from serious lag. Taken it diving to 30m and it goes ok at that depth with the housing, though the photos are pretty grainy below about 5m due to the lack of control over the settings. Planning to upgrade already after only half a dozen dives with it.
Recommend the setup for snorkelling, but for diving, you'd be better off with a camera that offers more control over the settings.

Upgrade you SD card to a faster write speed. We upgraded to an ultra 2 san-disk and took it down to 6 mp's and it makes a WORLD of difference for both burst and video!! Or even better go to the extreme 3 san-disk!

Comments about Intova SP880K Camera and Housing Kit:
I tried this camera and housing combo after I lost my Finepix F30 to a large wave at the beach. I had tried using a Fuji S9000 with a Dicapac waterproof case but found that an air-filled bag was to unwieldy underwater. I took both the Intova SP8 along with the S9000 on a snorkeling trip. I could swim around easily and set up quicker shots with the Intova, but the Intova has a huuuuge shutter lag so many photos were of empty water where a fish used to be. The S9000 took better photos but the camera often moved around in the bag so many were not lined up correctly. Neither were even close to the Finepix that I had used with an underwater housing.
I still had the F30 housing so I had hoped to replace my Finepix on the cheap but they were apparently such good cameras that an old 6mp F30 still costs as much as a new 12mp camera.
Intova SP8's pics also have a lot of noise above 400iso. In bright light, it takes good pics but without a good light source the photos will be noisy, grainy or blurry. The camera itself may be fine for a swimming pool where you have brighter light, can hold still and have someone pose, but in the ocean, it is too slow for fast moving action or deeper, darker water.
Unfortunately after a disappointing test with the Intova, I found that it cannot be returned after use as it is underwater equipment.
