I make my living taking pictures and video , for almost 50 years now . (Technical Illustrator) This is a great little camera that fills in all the gaps .Low cost ,high performance and small enough to fit in your pocket . The best part is it’s portability for High speed Slow Motion video. We use to carry around a laptop ,cables ,lights and batteries to take Black and White high speed for our engineering dept that were low quality at best . Now I show up with just the Casio and it is amazing. The video is of good quality and you can see things you missed before and it's in Color !! . It works so good we now have 3 EX-FC100,s and an EX-F1 . It won’t take the place of my High end digital SLR or Video camera but it offers more bang for the buck than they do, and performs a special service they can’t.Thanks Jim Adkerson[@]

Came from a 4-year old Fuji Finepix F10, which had a reputation for high-quality shots in low-light/high-ISO. Unfortunately I lost my F10 recently, which necessitated a new camera purchase asap.

After some research, I narrowed my choices down to this camera and another Fuji (i.e. current equivalent to my old F10). The fact that I have two toddlers, and getting good shots while their moving/dancing/etc. is always a challenge, I decided to try the Casio out based on it's high-speed 30fps burst shooting capabilities and HD video. I'll note that while doing my research, I could find reviews of the Fuji F200EXR that I was considering on authoritative sites such as dpreview.com, however most of the reviews of the Casio FC100 were on blogs/etc. or less "pro-photo" like sites... so I had some trepidations, but decided to give it a shot based on the mostly favorable reviews I'd found.

After the camera arrived, I did appreciate the small size, quick response, and fairly simple layout of controls. However, taking some pictures lead to a very different impression. Photos were very noisy (even at lower ISOs and in fairly well-lit scenes), and my overall impression was that this was little better than a cell phone camera... it's image quality is significantly worse than my 4-year old Fuji. And with no ability to limit the max ISO, you are basically stuck with noisy shots in most situations, and I mean the kind of multi-colored chroma noise (e.g. in shadows/faces/etc.) that make the images look like they come from cheap digicams.

I've since sent it back and replaced it with a Fuji Finepix F200EXR, which is what I should have bought to start with... FYI the Fuji still has its issues with noise/etc., but it's a night and day difference vs. the Casio FC100 (and I mean by that the Fuji takes much cleaner pics...).

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (Black):

The quality of the high-speed video is pretty low; the higher the speed, the lower the resolution. Regular video is as you would expect, which is great for a little point-and-shoot. You can get about 5 minutes of video on a 1 GB card.

The 30 picture burst shot is neat, but I don't use it as much as I thought. Variations of it will buffer pictures and allow you to capture like 20 pictures before you press the button (in case you are a slow trigger finger) so you never miss an action shot.

There are lots of picture processing modes, such as subtract red-eye, face detection, and multi-motion image, where it combines a few pictures in a row into one.

I have not used all the features, but they seem useful.

        Fun camera for the bucks

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (Black):

I purchased this camera for its slow motion video capabilities so I can look at my golf swing. It can do 210, 420 and 1000 FPS as well as high definition standard speed. Both the high speed and high definition videos require a lot of light, especially as you get beyond 210 FPS. So for best results, use it outside for the sun light otherwise the video may come out grainy and dark. It also has a burst function which is pretty fun.

With that said, I've had good results and a lot of fun using this camera. High speed cameras can be really expensive and if you don't need the fanciest high definition high speed 1000 FPS production grade video, this camera will do what you need it to do at an affordable price. Only con is that the video files can get a little big and you do need quite a bit of memory. You can only get a few minutes of high speed video out of a 1GB card. Still, thats quite a lot of swings you can get on video.

Its photos are pretty good. Its not a SLR but again its a fraction of the price.

Highly recommended for sports/action applications where you want to closely examine your form. In my opinion, this is a fun, beast of burden sort of camera thats relatively inexpensive and does all the things you need it to do with results surpassing its price.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (Black):

I purchased this camera mainly for it's video capabilities. With that said it takes excellent still photos. The Video is of quite excellent quality for a[$] point and shoot. I was disappointed in the quality of the high speed video. The higher the frame rate the lower the resolution of the actual video. Indoor video is extremely grainy. Overall, it's a good camera, both still and video for the price and the quality of regular photos and outdoor 720P video is pristine. I would recommend purchase to anyone looking for a low cost, compact camera with 1 button video or still photo shooting.

Very amateur photograher here. This camera is great. It does take some time to learn to use it but the performance is outstanding. The still shots are great, 30 fps is outstanding. I bought this camera for the high speed video and it is exactly what I wanted. If my budget allowed I would have bought the 2010 version with the 3" screen. I just bought one for my son, a golf professional.

I bought the camera for high speed video. The price finally got low enough to gamble. It's fun for the high speed, but anything faster than 210 fps (at 480 x 360) is too small to be very useful. The 30 fps HD movie is pretty good and the camera is tiny. I will use it as an engineering tool, making measurements of fast events. As a personal camera it's nice enough for a modest camera, but not a great camera. It's claim to fame is high speed video. That's kind of fun, and actually quite remarkable for the low cost. But if I were buying a single point and shoot for my wife, I'd choose something different.

I use the camera for filming my pole vault practices, unfortunately the lighting where I practice is low, the video compensates for the low light, however becomes quite pixelated. If I use it to film my sport in a bright setting the video quality is very nice.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (Black):

This was bought for my kids who enjoy freerunning and so far have taken breathtaking high speed video of themselves performing their heart stopping flips and vaults.
Could not have accomplished this with another camera at this price.
The colors are vivid and the video quality is excellent.
We were never able to capture the exact moment during a flip or vault now we shoot continuously then choose the best one.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (Black):

As a casual photographer and digital media enthusiast, the EX-FC100 is a neat camera with some not-so-ordinary features.

While it takes pictures well in day to day situations as expected of your average digicam, the video and high-speed image capture functions set this camera apart.

The slow motion and 30-image auto shooting functions guarantee you'll never miss the shot in the heat of the action. The shutter anti-lag function means no waiting around once you press the shutter button. Finally the numerous high-speed video capture functions make for amazing slow-motion videos in addition to its capable HD video capture.

The only downside I've noticed is an extremely short wrist strap. Unless you have very small hands and wrists, using the strap makes it extremely awkward to hold the camera properly.

Given the only con is pretty negligible, I'd strongly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a point-and-shoot and an interest in videography.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (Black):

I love the super slow motion capabilities of this camera! I teach high school Physics and my students shoot and analyze video as part of their third quarter Presentation each year. This camera has enabled them to investigate projectiles that are airborn for very short time periods. Doing frame-by-frame video analysis at 210 fps sure beats the heck out of 30 fps!

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (Black):

Inexpensive way to get slow motion video and the 30 fps burst mode at high resolution is great for capturing those special moments.

Still photo quality is not the best but this is not a DSLR so I wasn't expecting it.

Playing back the high speed videos quickly drains the battery so having a backup is good to have.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (Black):

I bought this camera with a specific goal of taking high speed video 240 fps for sports and it delivers. It is small enough to carry at all times on the tennis courts. Of course, if you know anything about videos and photography, you need sufficient light to do high speed video.

The best shot selections are surprisingly useful. I didn't expect to use it as a P&S camera but it am using it as one.

Likewise, the near HD quality video capabilities were a bonus for me.

My gripes with any Casio P&S is the poor design of the battery and SD card compartment. Both are a pain to remove/replace. I tried using the USB connector to connect to my computer but that was also ill-designed. What makes it worse is the USB connector cable is proprietary AND Casio doesn't seem to make replacement cables.

I have to be very carefuly each time I pry, literally "pry" the SD card with my finger tips each time I need to transfer data.

Overall, a gem of a camera if you are looking for a camera that can do high frame rate and super slow motion video.

If you want detail photos at night or portrait photos, this is not your camera... look at Canon or Nikon. But if you want to take action photos... this is your camera.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (Black):

I love the camera's small size, yet powerful optical zoom. The killer features, however, are the 30 FPS still shooting mode and the high speed video options.

The 30 FPS stills allow for great action photography, since it is often very challenging to hit the precise moment when the dramatic peak occurs.

I use the slow-motion video in my martial arts training. Not only is it a useful self-training tool, it's great for exploring the sub-second intricacies of the art.

My issues are only with the user interface. Casio could have used more standard icons and wording to make things clearer, and the manual is a little thin, but most of the functions are easy to reach.

I had several cameras before this one and they all had great features...but I was constantly missing shots of my 3 year old and 20 month old because of the delays. This 30fps High Speed is amazing...even got great shots of my older daughter on the high dive! I recommend this camera to everyone...LOVE it!

I got to say first that I'm just a Casual Photographer, and I'm not using the camera that often.

The camera is very nice, and i bought especially because of her HD video recording opting.
An extra bonus is that you probably won't find other cameras in the size which have a x5 Optic zoom.

So if you are looking for a very good zoom in that category size, and a good recording quality than i would certainly recommend that camera.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (Black):

I use this camera for taking pics of family, nature and trail riding trips.
I really like the outdoor pics I've taken, they are clean crisp and colors are fantastic, especially the greens and reds.

It's easy to use and download to my pc.

I'm not thrilled with the movie quality but that's not what I got it for anyway. The other thing it doesn't have is macro mode.

It's easy to use, takes nice pics and zooms nicely.
