Often times one will make a purchase once they have the item the hype they bought turns to dust in their mouth. Not so with the EXilim FC100. In the month that I have had this camera, I have not stopped being happy with my decision. It has lived up to it's hype and I haven't even come close to it's potential.

My daughters are in sports and I have been at every game shooting at bats, stolen bases, fielding, running etc etc. It's great to be able to click through the 30 shots to see exactly what is going right and what is going wrong with the swing. It's very helpful to be able to slow down the running and actually show her how she's running on the outside of her foot and how her stride needs to be elongated. They love to see the slo mo of diving into third on a stolen base. It's helpful to show her how she's pulling back from the wild pitch in the dirt (as a catcher) and as a result, base running is faster, hits are more consistent and passed balls are down dramatically. Next up! Volleyball.

There are still several tricks that I am lead to believe this camera can do that I have not figured out how to do (lack of a physical manual, or even bettter a tip sheet is customer unfriendly).

Picture quality is very good (as far as I know, but then I was happy with the results of my .6 Mp first digital camera back in the late 90s too) I can put it on the 52" Teevee and be happy with the results.

Integration with the PC has been very good. Easy to access, easy to load and unload: the camera is just another jump drive to the pc.

While I'm generally partial to micro SD, I'm just as happy that the camera takes SD which is cheaper. I'd suggest that you get a 16G SD card and a host of smaller cards so that you can keep an album on the cards, but if you going to record a game, better to have a big card in the camera.

    Favorite Effect: Multiple Exposure shot.
Favorite Feature: Auto Focus Face Finder.
Favorite Function: Fast Start, power button to shutter button in seconds.
    Favorite Misc: LCD, absolutely beautiful!

Don't buy this if you don't want the slo mo video and/or the 30 fps picture functionality. There must be easier cameras to use that cost less money. But for those effects, this camera absolutely rocks!

Oh, be careful when you first get the camera that when you delete your first shots you don't delete the "Demo" file too! One would think that file was protected, it's not.

Very happy with the B&H transaction!

I bought two of these cameras for my two oldest kids (18 & 14)for Christmas. My 14 year old hasn't had any issues with his (a black one, although that shouldn't matter). The white one already has some dead pixels on the lcd (not a big issue), but the real problem is that the camera keeps freezing up and the battery has to be removed to reset it. My daughter is very frustrated with this camera, because this is her Senior year at High School, and she has barely been able to take any pictures with her camera. [...] Casio said the problem was with the memory card (which I bought from here as a recommended item)-so I swapped the one from my son's camera, and it still freezes up. Casio says not to send memory cards in with the camera for service, because they are not responsible if they get lost. Sorry if this is too long, but I'm very frustrated with Casio [...]

It was really a fun camera when you trying to take pictures or video for sports. I used this camera for picturing Skis and Snowboard. The High Speed Video recording (30-210 FPS) feature was great. It let me see my motion clearly. Also the 30 continuous shooting mode was really fun, and 6Mp picture quality is good considering you are taking 30 pictures per second.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (White):

First off, I bought this camera for the high speed video capabilities.210FPS has excellent quality and produces some AMAZING firework videos.420FPS is still YouTube quality but you need more light inside, or shoot outside. This is the frame rate that I use the most. The 1,000 FPS doesn't produce high quality video but what do you expect for just [$].If shot inside,it needs at least a 300W light to be able to see anything. If it seems like your using overkill on the light, then you have enough light. This mode, when used with enough light, produces some of the coolest video that I've shot. A lot of reviews complain about the high speed being too dark but if they knew anything about photography, they'd know that higher speed shooting requires A LOT of light. The point-and-shoot produces great quality pictures, but I didn't buy this camera for that property. Overall, if you're thinking about buying this camera for the high speed video, DO IT, you won't be disappointed. I guarantee that you will try to find anything and everything in your house to shoot in high speed. Oh, use Apple Quicktime to view the videos. Quicktime gives you the ability to move through the video frame-by-frame.

I recieved this camera for my eleventh christmas and it is one of the best action shot cameras out there. The upside: Flash works well and image stabilization too. Love the 5x zoom! I took the 30fps while my dad was blowing out the candles on his cake(for his birthday)it was pretty cool. The downside: Auto focus takes a little while and high speed movie mode needs some serious light-but other than that the camera works great!

All in all: this camera is one of a kind

I love this camera! It has amazing quality in its pictures and videos, and is really easy to use. The slow motion video is great for any action videos that I want to record. And if I want something in a higher quality I can switch over to HD video with just a quick flip of a switch! This camera is also amazingly lightweight and compact! I thought it would be just somewhat bulky or heavy, but its really quiet the opposite! Another thing that I love is the rechargeable lithium battery, because I'm used to always going through tons of double-A batteries. Altogether I think this camera could suit just about any task.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (White):

This small point an shoot is ok for general photography, but the slow motion mode is really great. I've used the camera to help show archers what they are doing right (and wrong), and taken some other photos that would not be possible with a standard camera.

The 200fps mode is fast enough to show the bending of arrows as they are launched by a bow, and slow enough to provide really high quality videos. The camera has faster video modes (400fps and 1000fps). The 400fps is also quite good, but the 1000fps produces really tiny images.

The multi-shot night mode provides digital integration to virtually eliminate camera shake when taking photos of city-scapes at night.

The camera also has a high-speed multi-shot mode where you can take 30 photos in a second, then you can pick the best one to save (or save them all if you have the memory for it).

The camera does OK with general shots. Good picture quality, pretty fast focus-shutter release time, etc.

On the down side, the autofocus algorithm does miss a few beats on occasion, but no more than other cameras I've used (sony, canon, nikon, and olympus point and shoots). The wrist strap is about 1" too short for me - makes the camera hard to hold and release the shot with the strap on. The sdcard slot was a bit tight, and removing the memory card requires your fingernail to grab it. Be sure to get a BIG memory card for all those cool slow motion videos your going to shoot.

This is probably not the overall best point and shoot for the price, but its the only digital camera I've seen with the high-speed video, multi-picture integration, and 30fps multi-shot modes.

It's clearly a camera to have just for the unique features.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (White):

This camera is a great all around product. For regular use, the 10 MP resolution provides amazing detail with amazing contrast and color even with facory settings. Beyond that the high speed CCD allows for image acquisition so fast that you can get images you might not otherwise capture. This comes in handy when taking sports or other fast moving pictures. I use it also when in low light or candid situations. Getting at that picture that happens "just after you take the picture" with other cameras; Getting the kids to stay still or smile in a group photo, or getting the dog in just the right place. The images are reduced in resolution (depending on the frame rate), but still very high res for most.

One problem Ive run into is shooting in low light. Its not as bad as some other cameras Ive had, but still problmatic.

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (White):

Comments about Casio Exilim EX-FC100 Digital Camera (White):

This small wonder of a camera feels good in the hand. Solid and compact for it small size. On a monopod with the antishake on it provides a good platform for 720p HD and Highspeeed video. With plenty of light this camera will amaze. Make sure to half click your photo shutter before pressing the video record with your thumb. This will focus the lens. Also be sure to set continuous AF on. This issue of focus is the main complaint with this camera and these little pointers will solve a lot of hassle and consternation.

At 210 fps the slow motion image is both dynamic and interesting, and the creative possibilities are endless. Take a look on You Tube under FC 100 for plenty of cool clips shot with your new camera. This is your mission if you choose to accept it.

720p HD is clean and pops. I find if you keep the camera movement steady, I use a monopod, you will be satisfied.

All in all a fun camera, while focus takes some clever filming the High Speed and HD recording set this Casio camera apart. Enjoy.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the stills are fabulous, truly beatiful 6mp stills @ 30 fps. Now were talking...get outside and take in some sunlight.
