Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
[...] I'm a beginner at photography, so I don't know much about using this camera yet, but I have taken a few great pictures with it. It has some trouble auto-focusing in dim light, but it's usually not a problem. Love how the buttons and menu are set up. Live-view screen is easy to see, even in bright sunlight. Battery lasts forever compared to my old point-and-shoot. I'm very pleased with this camera. Can't wait to learn more about it.

Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
It's taking a lot of getting used to compared to a point & click, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. My only problems are getting the flash to work fast enough but I'm sure that's a user (aka me) problem & not the camera. Since I don't know much about photography lingo, reading the book doens't help too much but helps some. I plan on taking a class offered by a pro. to figure out all the workings of the camera. But, outside taking pictures of my children or flowers, the camera works great. It's just learning all features that's difficult.

Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
Have had mine for 2 years now, no complaints. I even got an e-3 a year ago but have since sold it. I found the e-3 too big and heavy with poor button feel. The e-520 is much nicer to handle and gives similar image quality. It's not as fast and the viewfinder is smaller, which may or may not be relevant to your shooting. With better kit lenses and a cheaper price than the competitors, it is the best choice. Shame there is no video.

Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
Easy to use... Wonderful clarity (shorter lens makes it easier to support with rigidly). White balance is excellent (settings for cloudy / hazy / sunny days). Wide angle (@ 14) is neat.
LCD can be brighter for a bright sunny day.

Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
Excellent price on a kit SLR. I had an old film SLR (Mamiya) but have waited to get back into digital. This camera is a very well equiped entry-to-mid level camera for a better price than Canon, Nikon, or Sony.

Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
I ran through hours of testing and was totally impressed with the 520 and kit lenses but then noticed what appeared to be a serious front focus issue with the 14-42 only at 14mm. Ran all kinds of tests with focus targets out in my yard and sure enough it was bad.If you get the 520 be sure to check for front focus. This has happened to others.[...] 2nd kit focuses just as it should! :-)

Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
Since purchasing this camera approximately a month ago; I've been extremely happy with the quality of the photos taken with it. Although there are a lot of custom settings that require digging into the documentation, I found it relatively easy to get started - fairly intuitive panel and display information.

Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
I am a photo enthusiast that was into the creativity of 35mm film photography. I have been using a point and shoot digital for the last several years and miss the features of my old equipment. The Olympus 520 allowed me to get into digital photography, with all the features and more of my old 35mm for a reasonable price. I was looking at cameras twice the price and decided on this because of the lens quality and value. It also came highly recommended from two other friends that own the same camera and lenses.

Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
10 Mega pixel camera is great for me. I don't plan on blowing shots up to poster size. Came with 150mm lens and 45mm. A great package for intermediate shooter, great price, all you will need but can't find in higher priced cameras. In body IS, Live View option, dust control, etc. Your not paying extra for the brand name here! No video and kinda short battery life.

This camera is easy to use and understand. It fits nicely in my hands and is not heavy or awkward. The lens kit recieved with the camera are high quality and take great pictures. The manual is easy to understand and user friendly. Olympus help on the phone was wonderful to with changing a setting. The scene selections are great for beginners to give a base setting for taking specific pictures or specific scenarios. Especially for the price, this camera is fantastic and I would highly reccommend this set up to anyone.

Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
I am just getting used to my new camera. I previously had a "point and shoot" with 3 megapixels. I didn't consider that a significant drawback as I don't make prints greater than 8 x 10 in. I was wrong. The increased megapixels have resulted in much better images. In addition, the increased flexibility in terms of a variety of special conditions, has also improved the images.
All of the above is most important to me, as I spend much of my waking time painting and in large part I paint from my photo images.
As I continue to learn,I'm certain that the results will continue to improve.

Comments about Olympus E-System E-520 SLR Digital Camera w/ 14-42mm & 40-150mm Lenses:
I bought this camera to replace an older DSLR. I wanted Live View to be able to frame shots when shooting over a crowd of people. The E-520 is packed with numerous features that you would not expect on a camera in this price range. Most of the multitude setting options can be accessed quickly and easily via the 'super control panel'. The kit comes with a couple of above average lenses. Both kit lenses utilize internal focusing, so you can use a polarizer or a Cokin filter system. The E-520 feels good in my hands, with the controls falling naturally under my fingers. While lightweight, the camera does not feel 'cheap'. Now for the not so great: The viewfinder is small (but but I can see it all while wearing glasses). The Face Detection mode produced a lot of mis-focused shots. The included XD card is an extremely slow performer - I use Sandisk 8 gig Extreme III cards with far better results. Don't throw out the XD, though: You'll need to use it to access the panoramic mode. Olympus' dual card slots lets you load one of each in the camera. You can switch back and forth between them easily.

I purchased the olympus e520 twins lens kit. My research of the product via B&H customer reviews brought me to this decision.[...]I am a beginner to the world of SLR photography.the learning curve is steep once entering this domain however the E520 allows the total beginner to take quality shots that become awesome prints virtually without any experience. the auto feature allows for aperture & shutter speeds to be determined and after taking the photos experimentation can begin with the individual settings...controls are easy to find and with a little effort everything becomes easy to understand. The twin lens kit opens a new world for the beginner

I have owned numerous SLR cameras in the past, both 35mm and digital. Although I have only owned the Olympus E520 for a short time now it seems to be a quality built camera overall for the intermediate photographer. The camera has all the features that alot of higher priced cameras have.
