I'd agree with the manufacturer's claims this as easy to use as a toaster. I already had an external hard drive lying around, so was able to put it to use for under $20 with this item. The software that came with the external hard drive, called Retrospect, was bad enough that I had abandoned the external hard drive altogether. My only concern is that the ClickFree software does not save earlier versions, so if you want to retrieve earlier versions of a file, you're out of luck (unless you keep multiple versions on your computer). While it's possible to schedule regular backups with ClickFree, it's really designed to plug in a USB port when you want to back up, then unplug. Some people find this burdensome, but it only takes a few seconds and is far less burdensome than losing all your data. Also, once you do the first backup, it only backs up files that have changed, so it's quick and painless. It also does a nice job of organizing your files, which should make restoring selective files a piece of cake.

You plug one end into a usb hub on your computer, the other end into an external usb drive of any kind and...Zap! All your important files are backed up. No software to install, no settings to make! I have four computers and my main use for the Clickfree Transformer is in backing up specific files with one click. Example all.jpgs and/or all.doc files to one external drive and one specific file.It has worked flawless time and again. My secondary use is file transfer between computers.

I bought this ClickFree Transformer to use with my Maxtor One Touch Hard drive because I was having problems with the software included with the drive from the manufacture.
I think this is great due to it being small and does not get in the way of anything. Its very easy to use. I just leave it pluged in to my external hard drive and when I need to use it its ready, all I have to do it plug it into my USB Port.
The only other thing I have to add would be that I would have liked to see it come in different colors.
