A speed strap is required but not included with this item. Please be sure to purchase a speed strap for this item.
The HonlPhoto 1/4" Speed Grid is part of the Honl Speed System, which allows you to add a line of different light modifiers to your flash unit. The 1/4" Speed Grid attaches to the Speed Strap (offered separately), and dramatically narrows the beam of light that's put out by your shoe mount or handle mount flash. The effect is a small circle of light, with the size depending on flash-to-subject distance.
Two versions are available, one with 1/4" grids and one with 1/8" grids. The 1/8" version produces a spot a few degrees narrower then the 1/4" version.

Not good...
This product is over size, cheap and clumsby at best. I returned the day after I received it. Does it do as advertised? yes...

Great way to narrow the beam of the flash.
Not thrilled about having to buy the velcro master attachment for the flash so I just got some black hair scrunchies and created a DIY holder.

Comments about Honl Photo 1/4" Speed Grid for Speed System:
Great for hairlight and lighting backgrounds. Very easy to attach and set up with the speed strap. Seems a little flimsy however and I feel if it ever gets dropped or has something dropped on it, the honeycomb will break quite easily. Hopefully, I'll never find out.

This product is very well built. Another advantage is that it can fit almost any speedlight existing. The beam of light is of nice quality and you don't loose too much light. Perfect for the speedlighter

Comments about Honl Photo 1/4" Speed Grid for Speed System:
I bought two for my SB600s and they don't fit snuggly on the flashes however they do stay on and haven't fallen off, yet. It does fit a lot better on my SB700. There are only two points of contact to the strap and no matter how hard you try to tighten it down it still seems flimsy. It would be nice if they added more contact points, perhaps the top and bottom as well as the side so the grid doesn't slide over and misalign. And they are not cheap to buy.

These grids are probably around 3/4 of an inch wide. They could have gotten away with far less.

I went with this since I'm already invested in the Honl system. It says you have to have the Honl Speed Strap but you can use any stick-on velcro. I mostly use it to narrow my flash down for a hair-light.

Simply a smart solution for spot lighting. I have both versions, and they are a regularly used item in my bag.

Comments about Honl Photo 1/4" Speed Grid for Speed System:
I got this thinking it was going to be the best thing since slice bread, but no. Since they are trying to produce a "Fit All" situation, it lacks the sturdiness that's needed to stay in place. It's very VERY flimsy and does not look professional at all with it hanging half off your flash. I recommend Interfit's version over this.

Nice to have the convenience of a grid spot being so small.
Be careful packing it so you don't scrunch the grid

I purchased both the 1/4" and the 1/8" plus the attachment strap. Both produce great light patterns and are well made.
