The Tough-8000 really is tough, but it is also really slippery, and the polished metal exterior is easily marred by my grit covered fingers and gloves. This silicone skin provides a sure grip in any conditions while providing scratch protection for the camera's very smooth & glossy exterior. Also reduces unwanted reflection that might alert the subject.
