Comments about Pentax X70 SUPER ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA:
One reviewer says "I wish the lens would stay retracted in display mode..." It does. Turn the power on while pressint the (blue) arrow buttom. This is specified in the manual.
I haven't found any issues with battery life, and low-cost extras are readily available through a well known auction site. The camera is missing a few features that would be nice to have, but overall feature-price-to-quality ratio, it's a great buy and excellent starter camera if you want to go beyond point-and-shoot, or need more manual control over your photos.

Comments about Pentax X70 SUPER ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA:
I am a nature photographer. I bought this product to specifically take pictures of insects, birds and animals since the lens goes out to a 35mm equivalent of approximately 625mm while providing excellent depth of field to provide the entire subject in focus due to the small sensor.
I found that the camera produces excellent sharp photos of these subjects with the depth of field I was looking for.
The negatives I found wih the camera are really bad HD video in low light and a lack of dynamic range in contrasty situations for landscape photos (although I use my DSLR with a polarizer for most of this work). Battery life was not really good either.

Comments about Pentax X70 SUPER ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA:
This camera does alot for at a reasonable price. The 24#zoom is great along with 12 megapixel so resolution is very clear on large prints.Im still getting used to using all the features but I'd say all in all the learning curve is very user friendly. The only negative so far is fairly short batery life before recharge needed ,but if you're just shooting a few pictures at a time, theres's no problem .A great deal for the $$

Comments about Pentax X70 SUPER ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA:
This is my first digital camera. I'm a senior and have been an amateur photographer for years. I find it fairly easy to use but requires quite bit of study. It's no "point and shoot". It has the design I want: view finder, wide angle 28mm and macro telephoto.
Pentax staff have graciously given me technical support. It's a whole new world of photograpy.
Could be shipped with AC adapter.
LCd needs a protective cover.

Comments about Pentax X70 SUPER ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA:
I love to take photos. My previous camera could never take as superior quality pictures as the Pentax x70. Was astonished at the zoom features, diving into flowers while the quality of the shot warmed my heart. Easy to operate while experimenting with different photo settings. The guide explains very well how to use it. It's all in the photographer who understands the art. I would recommend it to any ameture or expert. IT'S AWESOME!!!

Comments about Pentax X70 SUPER ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA:
THIS CAMERA TAKE GREAT PICTURES EVEN IN LOW LIGHT. I LOVE THE ZOOM. THE CAMERA IS NOT THAT BULKY AND IS VERY LIGHT TO CARRY AROUND. THE BATTERY LIFE IS TOO SHORT AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE ORIGINAL BATTERY ANY PLACE.

Comments about Pentax X70 SUPER ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA:
I love the camera for its great photos, light weight, handling ease, and wide 26-624 mm focal range (35 mm format), which provides more range than expensive, heavy SLR zoom lenses. I initially bought it to take close-ups of performers at concerts. I was so pleased with the results that I now take the camera everywhere. The clarity and color of photos even under low light conditions is fabulous. I can handhold it and get sharp photos at long focal lengths although the longest lengths would require a tripod. I frequently use the viewfinder, which is bright, accurate and easy to use.
It is not perfect. The shutter fires slowly, which has occasionally caused me to miss an instant shot or expression. Second, several optional accessories are not readily available (such as a spare battery), but can be ordered from the manufacturer.
However, I think it provides the best value/quality among the 20X+ mega zooms. It is the lightest weight, uses rechargeable lithium ion batteries, and it accepts the most commonly used memory cards that I can use in other cameras I own (rather than needing manufacturer specific memory sticks/picture cards). For non-professional uses such as quick shots around the city, vacations, family/friends social events, concerts, sporting events, etc, I think it is a fine camera with useful features.

Comments about Pentax X70 SUPER ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA:
I specifically bought this camara for an up-coming cruise to Alaska. The 24x zoom is very impressive as is the macro function. This camara is great for taking candid shots from a distance. The color and clarity are very impessive. The controls take some getting used to not because they are complex but because this camara can do so much. The light weight is a big plus. I wish that the lens would stay retracted in display mode so you could keep the lens cap on.
