This camera was given as a gift to a casual photographer. She wanted a camera that used AA batteries since she planned to use it only three or four times a year. She also wanted a camera that had at least 10 MP and was easy to use. This camera does all that. We are very pleased with the results.

I use this Kodak for unexpected family shots and also calm unrushed scenic and indoor pics.
The 10x zoom is so much better than the usual 3x zooms on most small point and shoot digitals.
I really have not had any problems with the camera and I also appreciate that I am free to use regular AA batteries. In some unexpected situations, it is easier to have a few extra batteries in my pocket or on my person rather than looking for a plug for mandatory recharging.

I have had the camera for only a few weeks, it is a small step up from another Kodak and has worked flawlessly. I miss the viewfinder and it has taken some adjusting to appreciate the lcd.

Have to say this first - battery life is real bad! Used up the included alkalines and two sets of rechargeables (2900 mAh) taking the first set of 60 pictures and two short videos. You WILL have to buy the longest-lasting rechargeable batteries you can find and plan on carrying several sets around with you...and don't plan on using this for much video - several clips will drain your power in minutes.

However...

This is a great first camera for my daughter. The mega-zoom is great and the camera's really quite small for the amount of zoom.

The scene features work real well for a novice/amateur to quickly take reasonable pictures. However, there is still a learning curve - you will need to figure out what settings work well for particular scenes. For example, macro zooms on a Christmas tree in dim light were very unsatisfying. However, outdoor photos (snow, scenery, etc.) were quite satisfactory without much tweaking of settings.

I bought this camera for my 12 year old son for Christmas. He loves it! The 10X optical zoom is by far the best feature for the money. You can just point and shoot with this unit, but it has enough manual control as well. So far, no issues - it's all good!

I take camera with me wherever I go, I walk alot so it goes with me outside, takes great pictures, the only thing I don't like is when I turn the camera on I would like more instant ability to take the picture right away (for wildlife) ,the camera has a few things come up that takes that ability away. Its great otherwise.

The Kodak camera has a number of features that make it a winner. The most important to me was an easy-to-use menu and controls. I looked at every major brand and Kodak's was the simplest. The manual button and dial are thorough and really easy. There is one on screen menu that is likewise idiot-proof. I take a ton of photos now (all of which have great quality) because it is so easy to do.

Another key feature is the 10x optical zoom - the best in its class.

Another plus - a guy I talked to at a retail store's photo department told me the batteries died quickly. So far I have taken at least 100 pics and the batteries are running strong.

I heartily recommend this camera and B&H's great value-added package.
