Great looking quality playback, great playback from the USB port, easy to use and set-up the way you want, and great compact design...The only thing that isn't great about this player that I've found so far is the remote. The remote is so difficult to use. It has to be pointed perfectly at the player to work it and it can be a bit annoying.

Only plays DVD's from region 1. I called coby to get the codes and none worked. I called them again and per my understanding this is a new model that cant be code/region free. If any one was able to please share.

DOES A NICE JOB FOR ALL THE FORMATS I BOUGHT IT FOR. [...]THE ONLY BAD THING SO FAR WAS SOME KNOTHEAD AT THE FACTORY PUT A HUGE INSTRUCTION STICKER ON TOP OF IT THAT WAS CLOSE TO IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OFF. HAD TO USE A RAZOR BLADE THAT MADE SOME SCRATCHES.

Very good for the price. Doesn't play mp4, docent recognize my 500 gb hard drive, and they put this huge yellow stcker on top that is very hard to remove. Other than that it is a great cheap DVD player. My 8 and 4 gig thumb drives with avi files work flawlessly and fast.

I was pretty anxious to get this player because it plays avi & divx files from a pen drive or SD card and the upscaling. Well, I've played a handful of videos now using the USB port and some play fine & others had issues. I've only tested divx files and the problem with some files is it will repeat scenes. It did this on two movies I played and did it until the end. The files that played alright looked great. I guess for the price you really can't complain.

This will be my second unit, the first one is going strong after 6 months of constant use.
This unit works very well. The DVD drive plays all the formats stated in the description, and the USB slot plays DIVX/AVI/and XVID, at least all the ones I have tried. The drive has pretty fast loading times.
The build of this unit is decent, for the price paid you can't really beat it. The only thing that I would like improved would be a more powerful remote control, it works but it could be a little better.
For the price of the extended warranty here, its worth picking it up for 2 years.

The Coby DVD298 Player is absolutely wonderful. I bought this for my daughter. It plays both the USB Flash drive as well as the SD Card. Great value for the price. We use a 16 GB Flash drive and it had no problem loading the videos. It played both CD's and DVD's without a hitch. You won't go wrong with this one.
