The ExpoImaging Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter is a unique flash adapter that will convert your hot shoe flash unit into a ring light flash. It simply slips over the front of the flash unit, and will fit any lens with a front diameter of no more than 4" (10.16 cm). It will replicate the lighting effect produced by traditional, expensive, and heavy powered studio ring flash units.
The light distribution is accomplished through a sophisticated system of internal prisms, reflectors and light-shapers designed to distribute and project the light evenly around the lens. Because the Ring Flash Adapter relies on the hot-shoe flash to generate its light, it contains no electronics, no flash tubes and requires no cumbersome cables. And in addition, TTL operation works exactly the same as with the flash itself.
The Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter is ideally suited for fashion, wedding, portrait, journalist and macro photography as either a main or fill-in light.
The Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter is compatible with:
Canon 580EX used with 7D, 5D, 5D Mark I, 5D Mark II, 10D, 20D, 30D, & 40D, Olympus FL-50R with E-3, E-410, E-420, E-500, & E-510, and Sony HVL-56AM with A100, A200, A350, & A700

I tested the Ray Flash shooting a wedding on boat. The shooting areas were very tight, but the Ray Flash really delivered. What a beautiful light. There is an occasional issue with "red eye" in low light situations, but easily corrected in LightRoom. Also, when the light level is too low focus is an issue.

I thought this product was too good to be true but I'm happily surprised. It's so easy to install and use and it gives great results. Of course this product is for macro or close-ups but makes such a difference you'll be glad you bought it. It doesn't change the skin tones so you don't have to correct your photos later on. The only inconvenience is the shape which doesn't fit in small camera bags. I wonder if a foldable version (above the ring maybe) could be made??? Bottom line: I love it!

I have heard about the Ray Flash for awhile. All reviews were good. I must add mine to them. I works great for macro work. I mainly use it for flower shots. I had to add rubber bands to keep it from moving around when shooting down. But it is a small problem easily fixed. I should have bought it sooner.

Comments about ExpoImaging Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter for Canon EOS / Olympus / Sony:
I have used this for portraiture for which it was intended and performs nicely. It is not outrageously powerful as it is limited by your power in your flash unit, but it spreads light evenly and is light weight. Since it is essentially a mirror box, the controls on the flash unit or camera set all output. No new system to learn...a good thing.
This unit also functions great as a macro ring flash unit and has greater output and even lighting than many dedicated flashed for that purpose.

Recently used this for fill light at a bright outdoor wedding- beautiful, and easy to use. Love it for indoor portraits, as well.
Probably should be in every photographers' camera bag!

Comments about ExpoImaging Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter for Canon EOS / Olympus / Sony:
Looked at all options and settled on the Ray Flash because of the ease of use and the price. Did not want a ring flash that I had to hold in one hand (Orbis) while focusing and shooting with the other. Fits perfectly on my Canon 480EX in both horizontal and vertical modes. Only down side is that it won't fit in my backpack, but neither would the competitive models. Great for event shooting as well as portraits and macro. I love it.

Comments about ExpoImaging Ray Flash Ring Flash Adapter for Canon EOS / Olympus / Sony:
it's making them all work together. The RayFlash works well with others:) I use it with a HVL-56AM on a Sony A700 and am very pleased. It only took a few shots to appreciate what a ring-flash can do. It works great for macro shots as well as portraits. It also works wonders as a fill flash in sun as it doesn't introduce any 'extra' shadows.
It does exactly what it says it will do, and for flash 'modifiers' that says a lot.
