Leatherman Freestyle CX Multipurpose Tool
Leatherman Inc. has pioneered the market of multi-purpose tools for over 25 years, assembling every product in their Portland, Oregon facility (some components are sourced outside the USA when required, but Leatherman uses USA-based materials wherever possible and never 'ships a job' overseas).
The Leatherman Freestyle CX is a minimalist knife/pliers combination, with the knife being accessible when the tool function is closed (just like a normal pocket knife). This blade's a real star, and you can open it with one hand. It is constructed of 154CM 'super' steel, a 1.05% carbon steel with ~14% chromium that has exceptionally good edge retention characteristics and good corrosion resistance.
Following the feedback of customers seeking light, functional, and minimalist tools of great strength, the Freestyle CX gives you much of what you need and little that you don't and weighs just 4.5 ounces (128g). The Freestyle clips on to belts, packs, and vests with no need for a sheath. You'll be awfully impressed by the power of its pliers.
- Locking 154CM stainless steel blade opens with one hand, with locking mechanism marked by a padlock symbol (push padlock symbol mechanism in toward handle until blade slides past lock)
- Blade's construction materials yields exceptional edge retention, even with heavy use
- Leatherman's "DLC" anti-scratch coatings throughout design
- Outrageously-strong pliers (both needlenose and normal)
- Wire cutters (regular and hard-wire) within base of pliers; use the small hard-wire notch at the base for any tough wire such as a fish hook
