Got a replacement for my wife's point & shoot. I had a few basic criteria: easy to use, easy to carry, use AA batteries (otherwise be like my wife's video cam... always a dead battery).
It is easy to use.
I did go through the menu once to check settings & didn't make any changes, which was nice.
Handed it over & she has been happy.
I was concerned about comments it was slow to focus. With rare exception she doesn't find that to be the case.
One exception (her first use) was in a dark church at a wedding. It was just a bit slow. She also kept trying to shoot too fast so the flash would have the 3-5 seconds to recharge. When she shots at a slower pace (when flash is needed) no problems.
I was able to check the speed while at the B&H store of it and a competitor's model, both about the same price & features. The Coolpic was noticably quicker to snap the pic.
Maybe not great pic quality, but it is good pic quality.

Just received the camera. I love the large 3" LCD. Loaded the 2 ackaline batteries. In a very short time the camera said battery exhausted. Checked the batteries and they still have almost full charge. I replaced the (exhausted) batteries and the error msg went away. I'm getting ready to go to south pacific and wanted to take some pics. Will take my backup camera because I don't trust this one.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix L20 Digital Camera (Deep Red):
A great little pocket carry camera, not on a par with a full DSLR model but nice to have in reach. Good battery life with fresh Alk or full charge MiMH. Picture quality is good in outdoor lighting and fair to poor on low light with the low ISO. I found you can get better shots by using Auto mode and setting to full color level and a careful use of flash settings.Lag is a big problem w/ the L20 but you can work with it. Burst mode is fair but usable. Optical Zoom is fair to good but the NIKKOR Glass Lens is excellent over-all. Bright 3.0-inch High-Resolution LCD is easy to view in full light.Face-Priority AF mode is very good. This is not a Pro-grade camera but still a very good model for a first or travel camera to pack.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix L20 Digital Camera (Deep Red):
I purchase for a mission that operates in a 3rd world slum. We need a variety of small cameras that are good enough to document house building projects and visiting teams and yet inexpensive enough that if we lose or smash them it doesn't bankrupt the mission.
I buy all of our cameras used from B&H and have never been disappointed.
This camera is perfect. It's color makes it easy to find in strange conditions (dark, raining, dirt everywhere) it is easy to clean the exterior and the photos are completely presentable for our uses.
We got it for very inexpensively and I consider that almost a donation to the mission.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix L20 Digital Camera (Deep Red):
I loved my L3 so much, that when it broke down, I went specifically looking for a newer model that uses AA batteries, because you can take so many more photos than with the newer square chip batteries. Crisp photos that have fooled many a SLR photographer. Camera fits easily into pocket, has clear onscreen menu, and you won't be out a lot of bucks if you lose it.
Only negative: the cheesy battery compartmnet latch, which is what broke on my other Coolpix.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix L20 Digital Camera (Deep Red):
Used the Coolpix while on a Grand Canyon vacation. Purchased it for our 11 yr. old (her first camera) and she loved it. Easily held, logically engineered and fun to use. Being digital, it allowed our daughter to shoot whatever she wanted and then critique and learn what shots were good, bad and how to improve her photography skills.

Bought this for my 4 year old who was playing too much with my camera. Very impressed so far, for a AA powered camera its as quick as my more expensive point and shoot. Photo quality is pretty good and better then I expected. For the price you really can't go wrong.

Very nice pictures, easy to use (my 8-year old son uses it from day-1) and carry. Also the usual AA battery compatibility is very stress free.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix L20 Digital Camera (Deep Red):
Once you get the hang of how it works, it isn't difficult to use. It fits into pockets so you always have it. The viewing screen is hard to use in direct sunlight, so often you have to guess that your subject is where you want it. I recommend using rechargeable batteries to save on buying/carrying many AAs.

For zooming, the Coolpix L20 uses a wide-to-tight zoom bar, placed on the back of the camera where your right thumb would normally rest, rather than a ring around the shutter. The bar is easily operated and comfortable to use thanks to a grooved indentation for the thumb, but it's something to take into account before buying if you prefer the ring around the shutter (I do).
The L20 is quick on the shutter, as long as you autofocus before taking your shot. Holding down the shutter to autofocus before snapping a shot resulted in no noticeable delay in capturing an image. When I didn't autofocus in advance, I noticed a slight delay between pressing the shutter and capturing a shot, but it was less than a second.
You have to get patience with some other things as taking pictures indoor because maybe this camara doent have the best low light performance.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix L20 Digital Camera (Deep Red):
I'm a semi-pro whose usual camera is a Nikon D90 with Canon Powershot G11 as backup or street camera. I bought the little Coolpix to have something that fits in my bag and thereby ensures that I'm never without a camera. It's surprisingly sophisticated for something this small and inexpensive. The time lag often complained about with this sort of camera isn't anywhere near as long as with most other similar cameras I've used; in fact, it's virtually nonexistent. Easy to use, so it's even a good camera if you want to give or recommend a "first" digital camera for someone.

We bought this camera for my daughter for her 13th bday.
It's great for the price. Takes quality pictures, flash is great, small and compact. Takes regular batteries (2 AA) which is great, but it eats them! Definitely invest in rechargables.
But again, this is not a professional camera.Image stabilization a little slower compared to my professional camera. Zoom is next to nothing, but most cameras in this price range are the same.
She loves it though, and that's all that matters.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix L20 Digital Camera (Deep Red):
Picture quality is great under good light condition. But in low light, the camera settings need to be tweaked to get a good picture. But then, this is how most cameras perform. So overall, it is a good purchase for the price offered.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix L20 Digital Camera (Deep Red):
Can't see the difference in image quality between this small P&S and my digital SLR's. It probably would show up in larger images but I never print greater than 8X10.
Wish it had a viewfinder but seems that is getting to be expected on less expensive point and shoot digital cameras. I knew it did not have one when I ordered.
Overall very easy to use. Not a lot of features but that is basically not important to me on this type camera.
