The nanoPAD from Korg is a slim line USB pad controller (about the size of an Apple computer keyboard) that nonetheless provides a huge amount of controller functions for triggering drum samples and other uses. The unit features 12 pads, and an X-Y pad with "Roll" and "Flam" modes. The latter is useful for programming realistic drum grooves.
In addition to triggering sounds and loops, the pads can also transmit control change messages, allowing the unit to emulate certain mixing functions, such as soloing or muting mixer tracks, and turning objects on and off. An additional switch is provided that can recall any one of four scenes. These scenes allow all the controls on the unit to be set up in several specific configurations.
