Bought this printer to handle heavier card stock, among other things. It does handle 110lb stock one sheet at a time for certain, and with quality stock, numerous sheets stacked in the paper tray. Colored photos on the printed page are a bit dark so use photo program to brighten up your images a bit prior to printing for best results. I've found a gamma correction between 1.30 and 1.60 depending on the original contrast of the photo replicates itself better once printed on the 1650EN. I had an issue in the first week with cyan streaks down one side of the page all of a sudden (wasn't printing anything overly complicated or colorful) and noticed a strange pattern on the cyan cartridge. I followed the manufacturer's suggestion and "printed" 5 blank sheets. This eliminated the cyan streaks. The printer is pretty quick to print from energy saver mode, and has good crisp output. It does pull a fair amount of power so try to use a dedicated outlet where you won't even come close to tripping the breakers. It's somewhat equivalent to a microwave oven when it pulls power to run. Overall, a good value, good print quality with considerations and one I'd recommend for standard BW and color printing as well as the occasional card stock needs. If anything else fails or adversely happens, I'll update my review ASAP.

I chose this printer based on the reviews on this site and others, which stated how great the printing was. I also need a printer that took heavier weight paper, this printer took the paper no problem, no jamming, but the ink coverage was spotty and streaky. If you need nice looking prints do not buy this printer, if all you need it for is printing out driving directions than this will work for you.

Don't know why people keep saying this printer is slow, as it is one of the fastest laser printers I've ever worked with!
Great price, fast, compact, good print quality. Unlike some of its competitors, it doesn't rely on OS specific driver software to configure or print to. it uses the decades standard PPD text file to let the OS know how to use it and a built-in, comprehensive web site to configure it.
If you need an inexpensive color laser, I highly recommend it!

Comments about magicolor 1650EN Konica Minolta Laser Printer:
[...] I replaced my worn-out Konica Minolta magicolor 2350EN color laser printer ($700) with a KM magicolor 1600W ([$]), which had excellent reviews on PC Mag, etc. Wrong! I print color graphics and photos, which required 128MB RAM and Postscript on the 2350EN. The 1600W has only 16MB and no Postscript; its memory was full and overflowed on simple 3.2MB .jpg photo – enlarged to 27.5MB when printed from Photoshop Elements, let alone scanned color covers of Architectural Digest. It took me three weeks to figure out what was wrong; the blinking yellow light on the 1600W indicated "memory full." Konica Minolta technical support was excellent (after one hour on hold), using remote access to take control of my Sony VAIO All-in-One, confirming that the problem was lack of printer RAM, and trying unsuccessfully to find a work-around. The only solution was to exchange the printer for a KM magicolor 1659EN with 256MB, Postscript (and Ethernet, which I don't use at home). [...]It works perfectly, with a much simpler paper path – which helps in recovering from rare paper jams, and replacing consumables. In simplifying the paper path, KM made the toner cartridges smaller (to fit a smaller toner carousel), reducing high capacity cartridges from 4,500 to 2,500 pages (PC World), which raises the cost per color page to $.15 (MacWorld).A great home color laser printer!

I use the printer for its quality duplexing ability. Was very easy to set up and get working without much experience. Would buy this product and refer it to other agents in my field.

Comments about magicolor 1650EN Konica Minolta Laser Printer:
I bought this printer to replace an old Magicolor 2350en which still works. I bought this 1650en because the old 2350en was in daily use for 7 years and naver had a problem but I wanted a smaller, quicker printer. The new 1650en is smaller, lighter, and quicker to print. I use it in a small home office and print 15-20 pages a day. It prints great color and is quite quick with the first page out and fairly rapid after that. It was easy to set up as a shared network printer in Windows7 and only a little harder with XP. I do think that the toner cartridges are priced too high and Konica Minolta should rethink their pricing for toner. Also the cartridges are low capacity even when full. However, I'm generally happy with the purchase.

I couldn't ask for a better print quality. While the speed (pages per minute) is less than others the resolution is fantastic, which is exactly what we bought this computer for. I would recommend it.

I have not used this printer very much yet but so far it's working good. The setup for a wireless net was simple on windows. The net part on Linux was simple. Drivers for ubuntu linux, not so simple. I'm still working on that.I hope Konica Minolta will put Ubuntu drivers on disc soon.Overall it's a giant step up from a inkjet.

I create an assortment of wrappers and deal in graphics every day and needed a printer that would give me the same color on paper that I was seeing on my monitor. This printer does. In fact, I like it so well, this makes my second Konica Minolta, the first being a magicolor2400. The colors are vibrant - they just POP out at ya! And the price is great too - especially when you catch it on sale as I did. Cost efficient compared to an inkjet? YES! I have an inkjet that I bought less than a year ago and not only did I sacrafice quality of my print, I sacrafice my hard earn $$$ buying ink for it. WHAT A WASTE of my money!! That's when I knew I had to go back to a laser and there was only one brand name I trusted and wanted - Konica Minolta. There's nothing that I don't like about this laser printer. I'll tell you up front though - it is a tad bit slow to some but I'm in no hurry so that is no problem for me. I just want the end result which is PERFECT or close to it and I'm now getting it with this printer. [...]

This printer was purchased to replace an older Magicolor 2340DL I had for 6 years. These printers are high resolution fairly problem free and are cut above the HP's, Lexmarks, Canons, and etc found at office supply box stores. If you want true professional output at reasonable price per copy. This machine is for you. Price for toner can be a little expensive but you get good mileage out of a set of cartridges.
