I finally bought a digital, after years of fighting it. This past summer I gave my 8 year old daughter a Casio Exilim EX-Z29 and was rather surprised at the image quality ,while I would not rate it as "great" it was at least good to very good for my viewing purposes. I then realized it is easier to go thru airport security since I always carry many roles of film and have to be careful with the scanner. So here I am with my DMC-ZS3 and couldn't be happier. I did a lot of readings on the product review. Yes, the mode dial is easy to rotate but it is not because the spring tension is too lose but rather the placement of the dial. It is on top of the hand grip and when you take the camera in and out of the case either the thumb or index finger is on it and that is when the wheel is turned. I am not found of reading the instructions so I decided to use it with what ever level of intuition I have. I am happy to report that Panasonic did a good job with programing, I was able to find most of the features and also understand each of them after a few tries. This is great news for me as I am also not a computer guy, so any thing of this nature has turned me away so far. I think to be able to use the zoom while videoing is a great strength of this camrea and so far I think the video quality is great, don't have to drag a camcorder to daughter's school play anymore.[...]

This camera is great until you travel. It is not resilient to most weather or travel conditions. This camera moisture protection is terrible. The knobs on top are loose and it makes you wonder if they got the camera out to the public before thinking. Don't depend on this camera if you are going to do any challenging travel. Don't get close to any moisture period.

It's about twice the size of the Canon Powershot but takes far superior photos due to the Leica lens, and at less than half the price of a Leica, I am very happy with my choice.

I use it for snapshots - there obviously is no fair way to compare it to my Canon 1DS. For my use it is excellent, mostly because it goes down to an equivalent 24mm and the panorama assist is handy. While there are smaller camera, none I have used have as much wide angle or the picture quality, and since this fits a shirt pocket having a camera that is even smaller yet is not necessary.

I have been trying to find a way to capture my extremely active 2 and 3 year olds on film. The camera right out of the box has been fabulous! I even took the camera out for a rare night on the town, and as we were in the back (dark) corner of a pub, I was bragging to a friend about the quality of the colors and images, took the camera out and took one of the best examples I could have, without even trying. From the dark pub, the colors of turquoise, rust, mustard, brown, red, etc emerged. I couldn't have staged a better picture-my friend was amazed! My active children appear to be caught in time, and I can now record those precious moments before they have passed.

I used this camera in NYC to make photos in sunlight (very good), very low light (stabilization ok, but it can't make miracles without a tripod: some photos are blurred. Putting it on a plain surface it makes wonderful photos also in low light conditions), and with super-zoom (closing-up players in MSG very good). Videos are great too, but HD ones are too big for a 4GB SD. Limited manual commands.

This is a really nice pocket camera. I have to admit I like my digital SLR the best so take it all with a grain of salt. This camera takes nice pictures, is very easy to use and set and is relatively easy to hold. It is a pocket camera so it obviously is small and clumsy at times and I occasionaly hit buttons (or miss them) when I don't want to but that is part of the small size. I like the functions, the ease of learning it and the great zoom. Hard to cpomplain at this price.

This is the best all around camera I have owned to date. Short of lugging around my SLR, this is the camera that will do it all and simply.

Its a twofer. No more taking a still and video camera on vacation. Takes great pictures and videos for a P&S. A little awkward at first but it gets easier the more you use it. Couple with a class 6 memory card no delay to store videos. 12x zoom is great.

I have had the camera for about a week. So far I am very happy with it. Before purchase I read multiple reviews and one of the complaints was the manual but I found it very easy to understand and helpful. I will be taking it on vacation in February and will put it through the paces then.

While we're still learning just how to use all the features (I never thought I'd need to read a *manual* AND watch a CD to figure out how to use a camera!) - the pix we've taken are extradordinary! While our son recommended the camera for its "facial recognition" of our granddaughter, we're taking wonderful pix of our pet! I'm old-school, and miss the "peep hole" through which to peer vs using the LCD to see the subject.

I like it a lot it's more compact that my previous cannon. I took it out to go watch a sunset and it took some really nice pictures. I'm excited to see what's in store for the future.

This is an excellent little point and shoot camera giving good, clear pictures. A 12X optical zoom is an added bonus with this unit and works well as does the image stabilisation. My wife uses this camera, mostly in "Intelligent auto" mode and is frequently getting photos as good as mine with a much more expensive digital SLR

This is our 3rd point & shoot camera. The sharpness is by far better than the others and the telephoto is great. It was simple to set up and get start using. Would recommend to others.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 Digital Camera (Red):
This camera is a great superzoom and will be a wonderful travel camera ( the reason I bought it). The image quality isn't on par with an SLR, but that really isn't the point... The zoom range is fantastic (starting at a true 25mm wideangle), and the camera is perfectly suited to carry around in a coat pocket. There are a whole array of different image "modes" like nighttime portrait and landscape and they really seem to work. Most of the excercise I ran the camera through was for indoor and night shots of people, which I thought the camera handled admirably. Lighting Balance between subject (with flash) and background is great at night, which I attribute to good image stabilization and a relatively fast lens (considering the trade-offs of size and zoom range). The screen is great! Finally, it shoots 720p video quite well.
