Good for a spare tripod
The build quality is very nice. It is durable and not to heavy. I I would like a better head on for with a level.

Comments about Manfrotto 7301YB 4-Section Aluminum Tripod w/ 3-Way Head - Supports 7.7 lbs (3.5kg):
Manfrotto speaks for itself when it comes to quality. The tripod is extremely sturdy. The joints are firm but also smooth. There is no play or give whatsoever in the joints or extensions. The head is a full tilt, turn, etc. head. The handles are a bit more compact than a full size, but that is one thing that makes it portable. It doesn't affect its quality. I like the quick release head as well that you only see with the more expensive and larger tripods. Nice case that comes with it too.

While being a light tripod, it still has the stability and sturdyness that are characteristic of Manfrotto. Ever since photo school I've used this brand and they are always reliable. The head moves smoothly and steady in all three directions. For use witn DSLRs with short to medium length lenses and compact to medium camcorders, you cant beat it.

Bought this tripod for my wife as a Christmas gift. She absolutely loves it. It is made from a sturdy aluminum and is fluid in its movements. It is also nice that it can adjust easily to unlevel ground. I also like that it works well with an RS-4 Strap from Black Rapid. Just purchase the replacement bolt for the quick release and it is a great combo.

I got this tripod for my wife for Christmas and she absolutely loves it. The various angles you can put the legs in makes this tripod far and above superior to our last one. It's very sturdy. My wife shoots a Sony CYbershot which does carry a little weight, but it holds up nicely and provides a steady stand for click and shoot features. I recommend this to any beginning photographer. Don't go out and spend a little to only get a little. Spend not so much at B&H, and get a lot.

I purchased this tripod for traveling light, and it fits inside carry on baggage or on a backpack. For its designed weight limit, it works well. Just don't expect it to hold heavy lenses. The largest lens I use is the Nikon 70-300 and it handles the camera/lens quite nicely. It doesn't have a geared center column, but there is a flip lever that locks it into place after manually raising or lowering.

- This is my first tripod, and I love it. I needed something lightweight and compact to travel with for lots of upcoming adventures. It comes with its own carrying bag and sets up in less than a minute (if you have the plate already attached to your camera).
- The range of motion is a bit limited with just the 3-way head, but for shooting landscape or architecture it has not been a huge problem.
- I also love that you can flip the mount and hang the camera underneath to shoot down on your subjects below.

I love this tripod, I carry it with me everywhere, its light enough to attach to my backpack. Its quick to set up. Its adjustable to use for macro, portrait and landscape photography. Its a great all in one tripod! Would recommend to anyone looking for a lightweight tripod. I use it with my 40D and my 24-70mm brick attached with no problem. I have it weighted down and never leave it unattended of course. But it works out great for me!

I was worried at first because the levers were tight and hard to operate with my small hands, but they have loosened up and are perfect now. I use it with a Nikon D90 - it's very solid.

This is a good simple, small and superbly stable support for a small video recorder. Panning is very smooth and accurate. A perfect and inexpensive companion for your home HD video camera. Its use ase a still camera is limited since its vertical axis adjustabilityis not meant for a full size SLR with a big lens thus it could only be set fully horizontal or vertical not in an intermediate angle.
