Comments about Panasonic TC-P54G10 54" Class VIERA G10 Series Plasma 1080p HDTV:
This is my first flat panel TV and replaced a Rear Projection TV.
The picture clarity of regular HD TV programming and BluRay discs is great. The piture on the built in THX setting is slightly dark, but this can be adjusted via the custom settings.
The sound system defintely nees improvement, but since I am thinking of investing in a separate sound system too, the performance of the built in components is is not much of a factor for me.
Watched the SuperBowl and I have to admit that I was a little bit disappointed because I did notice occassional picture pixelation. I did not notice this during a televised basketball game or during regular studio programming. Maybe there was a problem with the feed, cant say for sure.
I wish the remote could be programmed to operate the Cable/DVR box. I got it to recognize my Samsung BD Player, but not my Cable box. The Customer Support tech mentioned that I should consider myself lucky that that Samsung was recognized since the Viera Link is only supposed to support Panasonic devices.
Overall, I am still very satisfied with the TV.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P54G10 54" Class VIERA G10 Series Plasma 1080p HDTV:
We've been enjoying this TV for the past 4 months and halfway through hockey and basketball season it really shines. After upgrading from a 27" tube TV, anything would've been an improvement but after looking at the picture compared to any other set it is a steal at this price.
The only problem I've come accross is with internet connectivity. I have an IT background yet cannot get internet connectivity with this TV and the BDK-60 (I think?) BluRay player combo I bought from B&H. They are connected to a D-Link DAP-1522 wireless bridge yet work fine connected directly to my router. This appears to be a Panasonic. Not really a deal-breaker as the VieraLink interface is pretty clunky and limited. I'm planning on adding a media streamer like D-Link's Boxee Box or an HTPC later this year.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P54G10 54" Class VIERA G10 Series Plasma 1080p HDTV:
Nearly perfect out of the box. Preset normal color scheme is too yellow and matted in appearance. Could have set custom color settings (contrary to some other reviews it has plenty of settings)but I happened to really like the 'Game' preset setting for color.
I upgraded from an older HD plasma TV that wasn't HDMI compatible with Blu-Ray. This TV is thinner and relatively light weight for plasma and its size. Controls are very easy to use.
Only quirk I've noticed so far is that my DirecTV remote won't operate the source input control with any given Panasonic code. The TV will auto switch over to the BluRay DVD player when it detects a signal from it, but won't automatically switch back to the satellite input (both HDMI) when the DVD is shut off so the Panasonic TV remote has to come out of the drawer to switch back to the proper input.
TV sound is pretty poor, but I run external sound through the music/home theater amp anyway so no impact in this setup. Typical plasma TV glare in a lit room.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P54G10 54" Class VIERA G10 Series Plasma 1080p HDTV:
The TV is very good when i watch with a DVD. But when i move to normal TV, I can see the pixels (probably noise) esp when the background becomes light and if the pictures setting is in "game" or "vivid". If I change it to "THX" mode, its a lot better.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P54G10 54" Class VIERA G10 Series Plasma 1080p HDTV:
This is a terrific television. A benefit is displaying digital photographs on screen. The DVD plays simple jpeg data discs, and with the HDMI connection, the picture quality is incredible. You don't need to develop fancy slideshows to be wowed by the resolution of the photos. We are early adopters of the HDTV technology, and replaced our eight-year-old, 40" cathode-ray Sony with this one. 1080p is a step up from 1080i; we are knocked out by picture quality. Our old Sony had a top-of-the-line audio so this one's audio is weaker, but as we hooked it up to an existing surround-sound system, it's not an issue. We used HDMI cables for satellite and Blu-ray DVD connections. As for the weight issue, our giant screen Sony weighed over 300 pounds so this one is a flyweight by comparison. The two of us were able to place it. [...]

Good product design, plasma is good in theater room setup. Sound quality is suspect but we are using a seperate sound system anyway to this is not a application matter for us.

[...]The TV is stunning but I wish I ordered the 50 inch instead of the 54.The 54 comes with the square table mount not the nice oval one.SD video, cable for instance, is barely watchable. Put the HD channels on and the TV shines

Iam very happy with this TV. I did a whole lot of research on LCD, LED and Plasmas before deciding on this plasma. It is easily the by far the biggest bang for the buck. The pictures especially HD are superb and the sound is great too (unlike what seems to be the popular perception). B and H had a great price on this [...]

Great picture! Deep blacks. Looks like film. Much better than my old HD. And Big. I mean, big. Football games are a wholly new experience. Coupled with my 7.1 surround sound amp and speakers, movies are like watching in a theater.

Best HDTV i've add. I also have a Samsung A750 which is also great. But when comes to reality, the colors and black on this set is better than anything i've seen .
Blu Ray and HD channels are fabulous.

I had a 2006 Samsung 720P DLP Rear Projection HDTV and thought I'd upgrade. After doing months of research (and waiting for the prices to drop for the holidays) I finally decided on this TV. Back in the day Plasmas used to have all kinds of problems and were ridiculously expensive. Now it seems like they've worked all the kinks out (things like Screen Burn and life span are no longer an issue.) It has the best picture I've seen of any of the three types of HDTVs (The other two being Rear Projection and LCD/LED)Video Games, and DVD/Blu-Rays you may have seen before are almost completely new experiences, even if you have an older HDTV it is a huge difference. It made my old Samsung look horrible.A few cons but not really anything I'd consider worth deducting stars from. It, like most other Plasmas, are *really* Heavy. This model is about 103lbs. Problem is you need to be *really* careful about moving it. It must remain upright, you can't lay it horizontally. You need at least two people to put the stand on it as one person must lift it as the other guides it in.The other mild con is its power consumption is greater then my last HDTV by a couple hundred watts. But that may add only 30 bucks for the entire year at most, it isn't a huge deal. It's worth it for the enormous jump in picture quality. The remote is ok, like most free home theater remotes you're not going to be getting anything fancy but most people who own these types of TVs or are looking to buy them tend to own dedicated Universal Remotes already.

Once I put the video setting on "custom" and set the color temp. to warm2, the color was vibrant but not "Techni-Color" artificial. The THX setting is way too dark for anything but night time viewing, and even then very dimmish. Fotunately the custom setting picture is just fine. As I am not yet connected to a receiver, I'm temporarily utilizing the TV's audio. It's weak, as I expected it would be. All the more reason to do the right thing and hook up to a higher quality audio source. There is supposedly reduced glare, but not so's you'd notice. You buy a plasma for the picture quality; if glare's a problem in your room, think LCD.

We had to replace our 50" Pioneer plasma purchased in May 2004 when it suddenly shut off and would not turn back on. Paid more than $8k for the darn thing too. This Panasonic has a great picture but the sound/speaker leave much to be desired as our Pioneer had great sound. Other than that - completely satisfied.
Comments about Panasonic TC-P54G10 54" Class VIERA G10 Series Plasma 1080p HDTV:
I was worried about getting plasma when I first started shopping, but much research convinced me that plasma was superior to LCD, so I got the 54" Panasonic G10.
Don't wait, don't get LCD/LED, get this!
