[...] when I turned on the set after setting it up, the set is defective. There is a single thin horizontal line across the entire screen, on all inputs.Panasonic is sending out a local contract repair company on 12-10-2009. This is not a good start.[...] However, major issues or screen issues are resolved with a refurb unit under Panasonic warranty. Thats a deal breaker.I will try to update this later.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P50G10 50" 1080p PLASMA TV:
We use this tv in a home theater setup for tv and movie viewing. It adapts nicely to various image settings. It was a snap to configure. The remote is very straight forward. The image is absolutely gorgeous. All the reported pluses of plasma images apply here.
The room the tv is in, has 6 foot windows off to the side of the room and 4 spot lights in the ceiling and there is NO issue with glare or dimmed image.
This is in the middle of the line Panasonic and I believe it is a great balance between the higher priced models and the less expensive models.
One additional plus is that the audio is ok. When viewing tv, I often times find myself listening to the audio right from the tv and leave the audio system off. It isn't audiophile quality but it works rather well for tv viewing.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P50G10 50" 1080p PLASMA TV:
I extensively researched and looked at the on-screen performances of numerous large flat screen TV displays, including LCD's and kept coming back to Panasonic Plasma. Where to buy one? B&H,of course. My 50" Pana Plasma is still another B&H winner for value and quality performance. [...]. Set-up was a breeze, as was the Pana Blu-Ray DVD player I also purchased. Power-on and BAM! Absolutely stunning picture quality and ease of navigation through the remote menus. My standard DVD's never looked and sounded so good. As asemi-pro digital photographer accustomed to very HD monitors, this PanaPlasma really got my attention. LCD TV's are still little brothers to plasma.

This TV has outstanding color, contrast, and clarity. Controls are accessible and the remote is clear. It is easy to navigate to controls you may use often. Other than being a little on the heavy side for wall mounting I see no down sides.
