Plasma is the display technology of choice among home video equipment reviewers. Panasonic has refined this flat-panel technology further with its Neo PDP (plasma display panel) technology combining full-time 1080 TV lines of moving picture resolution; a native 40,000:1 contrast ratio; an Infinite Black Panel; and an anti-reflective filter. Add to that a 600Hz sub-field drive for reproducing the fastest action that broadcasters can throw at it, and the TC-P50S1 is the TV to beat.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P50S1 50" Viera S1 Series Plasma HDTV:
Affordable TV with Great Picture. Excellent black level that makes every dark scene look real.
Color accuracy could be an issue. I notice problems especially with green colors and skin tons.
Overall it's a great product, especially in this price range.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P50S1 50" Viera S1 Series Plasma HDTV:
Very easy to set up, in fifteen minutes I had the picture that I expected. I bought this plasma to compare performance with a Sony LCD. So far, the color in the Panasonic is richer and deeper but the Sony is sharper. A wash. A very good value for the money.

Comments about Panasonic TC-P50S1 50" Viera S1 Series Plasma HDTV:
My Hitachi 53" Projection TV (53SDX01B) in my living room died on me after 8 years, so after much research I chose this as a replacement. I had no idea what I was missing!VERY easy to install and set-up. Beautiful picture. DTV looks better than Cable in my installation, but both are better than what I had before.[...]Plan on purchasing a second 42" model just like this now for bedroom!

Comments about Panasonic TC-P50S1 50" Viera S1 Series Plasma HDTV:
This is our second Panasonic plasma. Gave first one a 42" to my elderly mother. Purchased the 50" because liked the two year old 42" inch so well. Great colors and picture!
