Comments about Yamaha RX-V465BL 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black):
Being an owner of this device for less than two weeks here are my initial thoughts...
The device runs a little warm. It also is pretty quiet with the Advent bookshelf speakers I'm running. I should try another set but overall it seems to be under powered for the specs.
Since I am currently using this device in stereo mode, I'm slightly anoyed at the defaulting back to surround mode even when listening to FM.
The remote is overly complicated could be more elegant.
That being said for the price it is a great unit. Although seemingly insignificant at this pricepoint spending 30-50% more could get something that performs better with more features. That is the case with anything so the point is moot.

Comments about Yamaha RX-V465BL 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black):
I don't have the room for 7.1. This 5.1 system fit perfectly. It has all the features I would ever need. I especially like the mike feature that auto adjusts the balances and tone of each speaker during setup. Love it!

Comments about Yamaha RX-V465BL 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black):
It works quite well, but I have yet to calibrate it correctly. Lots of fine print in the manual that I have trouble understanding, referencing the various options to a schematic, using letters, that, while I suppose necessary, are also confusing to me. Not at all a plug and play device, with a simple set up.

The one issue I had was that my subwoofer did not have it's own amp. This receiver only has power for 5 channels. You subwoofer must be self powered.

I set this unit up about two weeks ago and have had no problems whatsoever. I run my cable box, PS3 and BD player through it and everything sounds great. Set up was pretty straight forward.
Very happy with this purchase.

Comments about Yamaha RX-V465BL 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black):
I purchased this receiver from B&H 4 weeks ago and I love it, I wanted a home theater receiver that was able to do all the HD audio codec's such as DTS Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD, but I was on a tight Budget and I am very pleased with this RX-V465.
The sound quality is really great it has a clean sound and works great with movies and games, its 5.1 but that is not an issue because there is not much out there that has 7.1 channels, even my bluray's are mostly 5.1. I use it for gaming, movies and TV so I was not concerned about the sound quality for Music, I have my Bluray player, Xbox 360 and cable box connected to this unit and the all sound great.
Couple of draw backs like the speaker connectors, only Front L/R have binding post, all the other have those cheap push clips which make impossible to use large wire, I used a 16 AWG and it was a tight fit.
Also to mention that the optical and coaxial inputs are not assignable, The Xbox 360 does not output audio trough HDMI only optical, so I was unable to use the receiver to output video and sound at the same time, not a problem for me since my plasma TV has 4 HDMI inputs, but is a drawback to consider if you want to use the receiver to switch all of you're video sources.
Overall very happy with this receiver.
