The Sunpak FlexPod Pro Gripper is a versatile miniature tripod/grip that's appropriate for any point and shoot style camera, as well as many smaller SLR setups (such as any Olympus DSLR with standard zoom lens). Load ratings are based on a perfectly-centered load; in practical terms, the FlexPod Pro Gripper's appropriate for use with any point and shoot camera in any position you like, and many SLR cameras can be supported in a large variety (but not every variety) of positions.
Constructed with a metal core wrapped with a polymer skin, the FlexPod Pro Gripper's rather sturdy and has good 'stiction' to nearly anything you can think of...fences, poles, and tree branches are all acceptable for the FlexPod Gripper, and of course it can be used as a traditional table-top tripod, too.

Bought this to use with my small JVC camcorder for long distance videos. Works great - holds camera steady. The base is easy to detach to take camera off the tripod and is not intrusive when taking hand held videos. Also works well with my small digital super zoom.
This was bought as a replacement for a similar product after a leg broke when I tried to attach it to a chair back.

Comments about Sunpak FlexPod Pro Gripper Flexible Mini-Tripod (Black and Gray):
Much better than the smaller versions of this type of flexible tripod where even with a compact camera they struggle to hold them steady. Used with a compact camera this tripod provides a good steady mount, and the ball-head allows for accurate alignment, however the ball-head never seems to really lock up and can be moved even when tightened quite a lot.
I mounted a DSLR which was just slightly over the recommended weight (but not much)and the ball head needed to be tightened so much I thought the end of the screw would break off. It just held.
However what I did find was that you could remove the ball head supplied and underneath was a standard 1/4" thread so you can replace the ball head with a sturdier one. After doing this myself it supports my DSLR well.
For use with a compact camera, the original ball head is fine and makes a good travel tripod.
I would recommend this for compacts as a solid flexible tripod and if you swap the head for a better ball-head it will work for SLRs with standard small zoom lenses.

I tried this out with my camera when I got it. I have a Sony Alpha A230 Digital SLR camera and it works great.

Comments about Sunpak FlexPod Pro Gripper Flexible Mini-Tripod (Black and Gray):
Very nice thing. Small enough to fit in the backpack, and strong enough to hold Nikon D3100 with 18-55 lens. However, the rotating head (or whatever the place where you tight the screw to keep it in a position) is made of plastic and looks very fragile... I think it could be made of something more durable.

A tripod you can mount almost anywhere. Very flexiable. Can be twisted to attach to the back of a chair, fence or a post for example. Great for smaller point and shoot cameras that have a timer on them.

Bought this for my Panasonic DMC-ZS5. Traveling to Mexico soon and didn't want to lug my Canon D10 this time, so bought the Panasonic. I still want to take some great pictures so got the tripod. I was very happy with how adjustable the tripod is and yet feels very stable. Once it is configured for the shot, it is not going anywhere. I did try it on my Canon w/ 17 - 35 L Series lens and it wouldn't quite support it. (4 1/2# - Duh).

Comments about Sunpak FlexPod Pro Gripper Flexible Mini-Tripod (Black and Gray):
If you have a larger lens, look elsewhere. This tripod is great for a standard lens on my EOS, but once I put on the 300mm the legs and the pivot point will not hold.
