I've been thinking about buying an Internet radio for a while, and I'm REALLY happy I waited for this one. It has a lower price than most and it has STEREO speakers which most do not.It connected to my WEP encrypted wifi network with no problem, I can hear thousands of Internet stations and it finds and plays music from any PC on your network. Also if you go to the [@] and register your radio, you can create a list of your favorite stations, put them in different folders, and these all show up in your radio immediately.I'm 100 percent pleased.

I intended to use this radio by my bedside but found it unsuitable. The display is to bright even on the dim setting, it will not reconnect if power is interrupted so the clock is lost. When first powered on it takes 3-5 minuets to find the Reciva gateway then it connects to a station, which can take from 30 seconds to never. You just have to wait to see if it will connect, may not be the radio's fault but you wait just the same. The volume reverts to a default level when powered on so you have to adjust the volume each time you use the radio. The FM function works well but the antenna is a internally connected wire extending from the rear, if damaged replacement could be difficult. I am very pleased with the sound quality of this radio, as well as the ease of set-up.

Wouldn't you know they discontinue this right after I purchased it. However I am rather happy with it. The Sharp Receiva site is now dead, you need to go to Receiva.com to set up your account. I upgraded the firmware online via wifi with no issues. All functions work as advertised including the FM radio that some had mentioned was missing as an option. However I haven't had much success yet getting my favorites on Receiva to transfer to the radio.

After figuring out one needs to scroll to "end" to enter network name and WPA key all went well. Then go to Reciva and establish an account and your 8 program buttons are expanded to what you have selected at Reciva. It sounds very good and has a line out. I enjoy this radio.

Comments about Sanyo WiFi Internet Radio R227:
Easy set-up & usage, good sound quality, seems solidly built. Setting "My Stations" via Reciva web site ie easiest way for easy access to your regular stations, though it seems clumsy to manage. I had to visit two separate Reciva sites: one to register stations, the other to organize them.

Comments about Sanyo WiFi Internet Radio R227:
Purchased for my wife to get EWTN Catholic radio, which is not broadcast in our area. This unit is almost as simple to use as a normal radio. I had EWTN playing within 10 minutes. Thousands of intriguing other stations easily scrolled for future exploration. Sound quality excellent. On screen choices clear & easy to use. Instruction booklet almost too verbose, but thorough. I am delighted overall. Cons: needs more presets (now max of 8 for internet, 8 for FM). Shift button on my unit non-functioning, but remote control provides workaround. Lacks mute button. No 1-click toggle between internet & FM radio. FM tuner grabs only strongest signals.
