The Ikelite WD-4 Wide-Angle Conversion Dome Port simply slides onto the standard port of the Ikelite housing for select digital cameras. No modification is necessary, and the housing's original port does not need to be removed. The WD-4 port can be removed underwater so there is no limit to the camera's zoom or macro capabilities. Approximately 3/4 of the camera's zoom range can be used with the dome in place.

The conversion dome corrects for the refractive magnification of the flat port underwater to restore the camera's original angle of coverage. The WD-4 and Canon G12 combination for example provides a 28mm angle of coverage with incredibly crisp corners.

Compatible with Housings for:

Canon

  • 6146.10 - PowerShot G10
  • 6146.11 - PowerShot G11
  • 6146.12 - Powershot G12

OK for wet port, but beware the glare

    Pros

    • Easily Interchangeable

    Cons

    • Weak Casing

Comments about Ikelite WD-4 Wide-Angle Conversion Dome Port:

It is OK, but has 2 issues: the o-rings tend to stretch out of shape with adding & removing. Mine will no longer fit in the grooves without a loop protruding.
The other thing is that you will see reflections off the inner port lens if you shoot into the sun.

Comments about Ikelite WD-4 Wide-Angle Conversion Dome Port:

This dome is clearly very well machined and the optics look very good, but all of that goes out the door when it comes to the mount. Basically, there's a thin o-ring inside the mount. When the dome slides onto the housing that o-ring is supposed to drop into the channel that holds the plastic flash diffuser.

It's a struggle to get the dome on and off. I had to hold the housing between my knees and wiggle the dome on and off with two hands. No way am I taking on that task at depth. The first time I pulled the dome off the o-ring fell out. As a "wet mount" I expect to be able to install and remove the dome at will during a dive. This one just doesn't make that feasible.

This is a solid built, easy to use accessary. looks very impressive when mounted on the housing. Functions well underwater. Is a bit heavy out of the water as it is of good size and heavy construction.

Comments about Ikelite WD-4 Wide-Angle Conversion Dome Port:

Used the dome on the Ikelite housing for a full week on every dive. When fully filled with water between the dome and the housing it provides good clear pictures. The only draw back is that it will not auto fill with water when entering with the dome affixed to the housing. Below 20 feet it can't be removed to flood it if there is an air bubble trapped in between the housing and the dome. Would be better if it would self vent.

Comments about Ikelite WD-4 Wide-Angle Conversion Dome Port:

Like the specifications said, the dome simply slides onto the Ikelite port. Easy to use and of course great that it is a "wet lens" as it gives more flexibility.

Best to add a bit of silicone gel on the rubber rim on the inside of the dome to make taking on/off an easier affair.

There are two "air-holes" on the dome but not all air bubbles escape this way so it was a bit of a pain to open it, let the bubbles out and put it back on again. It may seem like a small matter as it only takes 30 seconds at the beginning of the dive to adjust this but if it is a whale shark dive then the 30 seconds feel way too long!

You will also need to zoom in with the camera just a little to get rid of the dome sticking out at the sides but even with the zoom-in, it is still very wide. Corners are crisp and my pictures have been great.

All in all, a great product, highly recommended.
