The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W220 Digital Camera is a full-featured, pocket-sized camera built around an incredible 12.1 megapixel image sensor, a precision 4x Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Zoom Lens, and an easy to use suite of in-camera optimization and editing tools. From family gatherings at home to a night on the town with friends, the W220 produces consistently beautiful photographs with rich color and stunning detail.
Frame all of your memories with the bright, wide-view 2.7" LCD. High ISO shooting (up to ISO 3200) combined with Sony's acclaimed Super SteadyShot Optical image stabilizer compensates for hand shake and produces stellar photos--even in low-light. The newly optimized Smile Shutter Mode automatically captures an image when your subject smiles--without the need to press the shutter button. You can adjust Smile Shutter sensitivity and even prioritize your subjects in a group photo using the intuitive menu system.
The Cyber-shot DSC-W220 also includes Sony's D-Range Optimizer to retrieve picture detail in photos with harsh highlights or dark shadows. Advanced Scene Recognition carefully matches your shooting scenario with one of five pre-programmed settings. All of these technologies combine to bring you the very best in imaging quality in a compact, easy to use package.

I bought this camera for capturing my own impressions of my first trip to the U.S.. The camera allowed me to take pictures with richeness of details, made possible by the outstanding 12 megapixels resolution, and the far enough 4x optical zoom.
Despite it's my first digital photo device, I found nothing hard-to-use. Both this interface and this buttons are friendly. The battery lasts many time, and transfering my taken pictures to my PC is piece of cake.
I don't know when I'll flight back to the U.S.. But I'm sure what will be my photo device that time!

My 17-year-old son wanted a camera that he could easily slip into the pocket of his jacket. He wanted something that was user-friendly and fairly sturdy. This camera fits everything he was interested in, and the price was right. We are sold on Sony digital cameras!

I have a digital SLR but did not want to lug the thing along to parties and events my wife and I went out to. We were looking for something that would take great photos and fit in her purse.
The photo quality is great and the smile recognition function can be a hoot to play with. However since it is a Sony all of the parts are proprietary so it can get expensive (battery, memory stick, etc).

[...] Of course the camera is good too. I bought 4GB memeory card for this camera, it is good for more than 800 photos with 12MP. Battery is good for one day at least, I will say 200-300 photos at normal shoot. of course if you shoot quick and didn't use your screen too look the photos very often, you may have more battery life.Only problem for this camera is processing the photo little slow at some time, i don't know why, but you don't want use this one for sport shooting for sure or you will missing the great shot.

The only problem is that the products that you gonna need like the memo card are expensive and I could NOT find any other manufacture besides Sony! This camera is being used as a back up camera. I take it everywhere I go. The best feature is the extreme sharpness of the lens.
