The Sony KDL-46V5100 46" Bravia V Series LCD HDTV offers a series of advanced technologies that combine to produce excellent images from a wide range of content possibilities. The HDTV delivers full 1080p resolution to ensure optimal image quality from digital TV, Blu-ray discs, home entertainment systems, digital cameras, camcorders, and other devices.
One key to the unit's high-end performance is Sony's Motionflow 120Hz technology, which produces smoother, sharper motion for sports, gaming, movies, and other action content. The Bravia's 24p True Cinema feature also improves the quality of 24p video sources such as films by displaying them at the 24 fps (frames per second) speed at which they were originally shot. The HDTV's Dynamic Contrast feature yields deeper blacks and fine details in dark areas of the picture.
Compatibility with Bravia Link modules enables you to expand the capabilities of your HDTV by adding a space-saving DVD player, four additional HDMI connections, and wireless control. Additionally, Bravia Sync offers easy connectivity and control of specified Sony camcorders and digital cameras.
To maximize the versatility and entertainment value of the Bravia, Sony has included a full complement of inputs and outputs, allowing convenient hookup of virtually any digital or analog device, including PCs and USB-enabled equipment.
The Bravia features several technologies that not only enhance the viewing experience, but also reduce unnecessary power consumption. LightSensor technology adjusts the HDTV's backlight in response to room lighting conditions, while Dynamic Backlight Control performs a similar function to optimize image quality.

Matte finish on the screen means no more glare from my windows during the day. Great picture. My 83 year old father easily helped me set it up on the stand. Though the instructions could be better on exactly which of my old cables go where for my old DVD and VCR and how to switch to DVD and VCR, but I figured it out in about 10 minutes.

I got this KDL 46V5100 TV + BDP N460 player from B&H 10 days ago and I hear this audio static noise whenever I change the channels and it's very audible when I switch blue ray menus. I can hear this annoying sound coming from TV speakers whenever I select play movie from the menu and also when I go back to title menu on the Blue-ray player.
I have contacted SONY and they told me to schedule an authorized service agent. I have talked the the service agent and he wants to replace the audio board on this TV. This TV is brand new and only 5 days with me. I am disappointed with SONY on this.

Comments about Sony KDL-46V5100 46" Bravia V Series LCD HDTV:
Great picture, easy to set up and ports are easy to access. There is a lot of light in our family room but the glare is so much less obvious than with our old TV. No obvious drawbacks after having it a month.

Comments about Sony KDL-46V5100 46" Bravia V Series LCD HDTV:
Great picture quality and pretty good sound for what it is. I also have a Sony Bravia sound system, so I'm not worried about what the TV sounds like. The only thing I would change is to have all of the inputs/outputs on the back of the TV instead of some of them being on the side, but that is minor. bhphotovideo has great [...] prices[...].Thanks!

Comments about Sony KDL-46V5100 46" Bravia V Series LCD HDTV:
We were most concerned about glare as our living room is in the southwest corner of the house and covered in windows. After a week of ownership, the TV has been quite satisfactory in that regard.
Of a minor concern, there are no controls or labels on the front of the TV, so if your setup is like ours— on a shelf with only an inch or two of clearance on the sides— you won't be able to see what you're pressing. Of course, usually you'll use the remote, except that for some reason our universal remote won't power the TV on, even though everything else functions fine. The TV's "native" remote, while not terrible compared to other Sony remotes, isn't much use unless the rest of your setup is Sony as well.

I priced this television among other retailers and found it to be the best price and I happened to catch it on sale, too.
I am very pleased with the picture quality and love having the thinner television. I would definitely recommend this to any buyer.

Comments about Sony KDL-46V5100 46" Bravia V Series LCD HDTV:
This tv is used strictly for family view, no gaming.
Picture is excellent even compared to my son's 50" Plasma.
Sound could be better from factory speakers, but we already had Sony surround so not a big issue with us.
Set up was a little longer than expected, but we are upgrading from a tube tv and again, this is to be expected. For someone versed in newer models, set up would be a snap.
B & H did a fine job througout the ordering process and the tech call we made with questions.

Comments about Sony KDL-46V5100 46" Bravia V Series LCD HDTV:
Bought this TV on Boxing Day for [$]. For a 46" 120 Hz you can't beat this TV. Amazing brilliant picture and more than enough inputs (4 HDMI's) to handle any additonal equipment you might have. Where other comparable models are still selling for $1500 or more this one is unbeatable.

I bought the 46" Sony Bravia to replace a 20-year old TV. The picture is great and the sound system is impressive. Connections and set up are not for the technologically challenged.

Comments about Sony KDL-46V5100 46" Bravia V Series LCD HDTV:
We shopped for several months before selecting this product. The key factor was the picture – we wanted one that looked as natural as possible. Most display units are running the factory default settings, which tend toward oversaturated colors and very bright pictures. We were able to find a few stores where we could play with the picture settings. This product has an easy-to-use on-screen picture adjustment which allows us to get the picture "just right" without a lot of hassle. And it can be set differently for each of the 8 inputs. The picture quality sold us! Note: We have not seen the "cloudy black" problem mentioned by several of the other reviewers
