Behind the sleek piano black exterior of the Sony KDL-40S35100 40" BRAVIA S-Series LCD TV, lies a host of advanced features at an affordable pricepoint, that represent the evolution of Sony HDTV. 1080p resolution is the highest HD standard available, offering maximum performance from your Blu-ray player and gaming consoles such as PlayStation3.
But the supporting cast of features are what makes the TV extraordinary. Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) With Dynamic Backlight Control bring the sort of deep, rich blacks and shadows that seemed unattainable on an LCD panel even a short time ago.
24pTrue Cinema allows the the panel to display content such as Blu-ray at the same frame rate that it was shot, 24 fps, resulting in a more genuine cinematic look. The Xross Media Bar provides a logical graphic user interface offering choices in screen modes and settings.
Bravia Link modules represent a milestone in seamless integration and lifestyle enhancement features. Bravia DVD Link gives back precious shelf space by adding the player behind your TV, not your A/V cabinet. Bravia Input Link provides four additional HDMI connections to your TV and Bravia Wireless Link joins all of your HD audio and video wirelessly, without the tangle of wires and confusion of multiple remotes.
3 HDMI inputs ensure maximum resolution, uncompressed video and multi-channel audio, as well as seamless transition between your HD sources. A PC input allows use of the KDL-40S5100 as a computer monitor while 2 component inputs offer additional HD support.
Lastly, the KDL-40S5100 begins to recoup its purchase price the moment you plug it in. It exceeds Energy Star 3.0 requirements by incorporating features such as Standby Mode and Dynamic Backlight Control which uses an energy saving light sensor to adjust the screen's brightness based on the surrounding light.

Comments about Sony 40" Bravia S Series LCD HDTV:
This is our first HD TV and my wife likes it in the bed room. We have to replace two more tube TV's. We also bought from Sony a blue ray DVD and it is nice to see that they two work well together using only the TV remote. I missed the picture in picture (PIP) and the wireless earphones I have on my older tube Sony TV's. I bought extra wireless earphones. The wireless earphones need a USB port as an external power supply. To my surprise the TV has no USB port. The speakers could be of better quality too. I guess the S model is the low cost version.
Conclusion: The picture is good and the remote is easy to use.

Comments about Sony 40" Bravia S Series LCD HDTV:
After buying a Sony Trinitron back in the 1980's I was first introduced to televisions with the best picture quality and exceptional service life. That 27 inch Sony still worked perfectly when I gave it away twenty years later. Philips is the only other brand I would consider. I have a 26 inch Sony Bravia for bedroom/computer monitor and the 40 inch for the living room. Looking forward to another Sony TV.

You should trust Sony brand. I selected this one after standing before different brands and comparing them in Bestbuy. The color is accurate. Not too bright and hurt your eyes. I am picky but I really feel satisfied with the picture quality. Some of you may worry about the motion flow rate is a little low (60Hz), but I will say it is absolutely fine for most of us who just watch TV and DVD and not playing the video game. You can realize that only when there is too much dark on the screen. I got the update software but I decide not bother to change this.
