Having been a Canon photographer for years, I was not suprised when I opened the box and began reading the manual. This little powerhouse delivers digital SLR level amenities in a handheld package. From full manual settings to very intuitive auto programs, it seems to cover the full range of photographer needs. The flash is more than adequate for this level of camera. The IS really works!
I love that this camera can get down to the sub-4.0f range. This happens in no small part because of the oversized lens opening, which is unique for a handheld of this size.
My only wish is that the HD video might produce a slightly larger output, but if I really need that, I'll go to an HD Camcorder.
Shutter recovery is fast and it's ready to shoot again quickly.
All in all, very happy with this new powerhouse from Canon.

This Camera more than meets the requirements of a person who is transitioning from ultra-compact to compact or more serious ones. I got this camera for my wife as I was tired of her inept (sony) ultra-compact that she carries most of the time. I was trying to make it my second camera as I am tired of taking my current super-zoom, and as I was in market for a dslr I thought this one would compliment the dslr for casual occasions.Pros.1.Great LCD Display.2.Great built-In Flash, too good for its class.3.Rugged looking body construction. 4.Light weight for its features, specially for me, who hated carrying the super-zoom.5.Great Indoor PicturesCons.1. The live display of the object while taking picture is not so great compared to the picture it takes. I don't know if this is a major drawback. I did play around to validate this in various lighting conditions. For me this is a major hindrance as I compose my image through the view finder, and the fact that this doesn't have one asks for a more truthful LCD screen.2. There are too many settings for the controls, if you wish to play around with the camera. I should say little too many, cause I honestly didn't even get one working properly. I didn't read the manual yet. May be, I might figure out how to use the controls one of these days. But aren't the controls supposed to work in one universal way, no matter what camera or which version of the camera you use. Yeah, this sounds more like me [*] about lack of uniform standard in the camera software world across major players. May be, google should extend its andriod like philosophy to cameras as well.3. Poor Construction of the battery hatch. It blends well with the silver side rims, but while using the hatch, you might find it more plastiky/fragile.4. Though the images look crisp in the camera's lcd screen, I am not yet impressed with them on my computer screen. I still need to play around with multiple images/compositions, to see if it is the composition with this camera or the composition itself. To sum it up, I think it all depends on who is using this camera. For a novice using the compact, you would be awed by its features/pictures and the zoom. For a photo-enthusiast, you would be irked by the live display and the complexity of the controls if you wished to use it. You would be happy with its compactness. For a serious-photographer, you might be generous to work around its flaws and feel in awe of its strengthsIt might be a replacement for a compact, but honestly it doesn't replace a super-zoom.

I like this camera because it has a 12x optical zoom which is great because I like taking close ups and it has a wide range/angle.
I like the big screen.
I don't like that the flash pops up, it's a bit annoying but not as terrible as they said on the videos I watched.
Another thing I don't like about this camera is that the optical zoom get's locked while shooting video.
Also the controls on the front right side are a bit small.
Overall I'm very happy with the camera. It has lots of great features

I actually bought this for my parents. I'm a pro photographer and can't buy junk even for my very non-professional parents. This camera beats any other point and shoot on the market. It has excellent image quality, incredible zoom length, and makes even the non-professionals look like they know something about photography.

I use this camera when my SLR feels to big and unpractical to carry around. Enough functionality and great zoom make sure that the camera meets most needs ie on travel.

I shoot pictures of house iteriors, and candid friends shots as well. While in no way am I good at it, the pictures are! The wide angle part is what I wanted, and got. So a room can look its true size and shape, not like a tunnel. There is more to learn for me, but so far, it's easy to use and understand. From a novice.

The Good - Great zoom, lots of fun color options while recording video, good video picture.
The Not-so-Good - very sensitive to movement. I can't quite find the right setting to fix this. I thought that image stablizer was supposed to take care of this but it seems it makes it a lot worse. I'm just an occasional picture taker but my Canon Powershot A610 was a lot less sensitive to movement and took some great pictures compared to this one. The Auto setting isn't near as good as choosing the correct setting yourself (i.e., indoor, portrait, landscape, etc). Some of my pictures have even been grainy for some reason. Guess I have a lot of playing to do before I get it right. Unfortunately, our baby is on her way tomorrow and my husband has little patience for learning something new on a camera that is supposed to be so much better, not to mention that cost so much more, than our older camera.

I normally shoot with a Canon 40D, but wanted a small camera to carry with me all the time. The SX200 fits the bill perfectly because it takes good pictures without taking up much room.
My only complaints are that the flash is up all the time, even when you don't need it & there's a long delay between shots. Overall, though, it's a nice little camera.

Great camera for taking to professional games and to functions where the 5D and gear is too much. The detail and crispness of the images are far better than any othe P&S I have owned. The pop up flash is so..........much better than the standard built in.

Family camera for novice user who wanted longer zoom than typical point & shoot. Easy to use at auto setting, but full control for more advanced user, although menu structure is complex.

I love shooting with this camera. I use a Canon 40D most of the time and was looking for a camera to run around with easily. The quality seems good in the pictures I have taken up to this point, even at sunset on the beach with people in the shot. The menu's are easily navigated and I didn't read the book. I love the fact that there are creative modes as well as easy modes this helps when I need to hand over my camera to a novice.
Cons:
SuperMacro & Macro the lens gets in the way of the light sometimes, and shots can be harder to compose, depending on the angle of the shot.
&
The pop up flash stays up when it's on whether or not you have the flash set to fire. Would have preferred it to be a pop-up when needed instead.
