I use DSLR cameras so point and shoots leave a lot to be desired. The shutter lag is bad but it's bad in most of these point and shoot cameras. The pictures are sharp and the video is pretty good too if you use a class 4 or 6 card. Slow cards make choppy videos. I would recommend this camera to a friend. It is super small and does a good job overall.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital Camera (Silver):
A professional photographer recommended this camera and B&H and was very glad he did. Takes some great photos closeup and distance which print out sharp and clear. If I had any concern, it was how small it is. One need some tiny fingers to assemble the camera and take photos. The leather case was made of rather stiff, thick leather, but should provide good protection to the camera once stored.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital Camera (Silver):
Overall, I am very please with this product. By sticking to auto and video I was able to take most of the images I want to take without having to memorize all of the functions straight of the bat. Bit-by-bit I am learning to use the manual functions.
The zoom is great, although the lever tends to switch to quickly. I find myself going from x5 to x8 without being able to stop at points in between.
I do love that I am able to take clear photos when the camera is as close to 2 inches from the object being photographed.
My one major complaint is that the on/off button is so small and is black on a black background.
I am very glad that it came with a (paper) manual, although I thought that the index could have been more extensive. However, the Table of Contents is quite good. In addition, I would have ordered the topics differently. It is not until page 42 that one finds a diagram of the camera showing what button does what. To have a listing of all of the symbols used found in one place would also have been helpful. But at least it has a paper manual. I would not buy a product that did not.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital Camera (Silver):
This camera fits the phrase, "point and shoot". It is really that easy. The sd780is has more features than I will ever use but I wanted a camera that takes great pictures. The picture quality and clarity is better than I expected. It even fits in a shirt pocket. The battery life I have experienced is more than adequate for my needs. I have yet to run into the dreaded low battery light when using the camera. I would recommend this camera to anyone that want clear pictures and an easy to use camera.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital Camera (Silver):
I bought this for its capacity to shoot HD video. To be able to view and appreciate the HD videos you shot on this camera, you would need a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable (bought separately) to connect it to your HDTV. Just using the ordinary colored cables (red, yellow) with this camera will not allow you to appreciate the HD videos very well (they come out grainy). If your HDTV has a USB port, you can use that to connect to this camera and view the pictures, but you will not be able to view the video with it.

I use it for point and click for the family and it works well. I ruined my older version so I wanted to upgrade a bit. I like the HD movie feature, but am not that impressed with the resulting video. They should have included a small HD cable. I have owned Nikon before Canon and I think Canon in better.
