I have just returned from an 17mo bicycle trip around the world. I kept this camera in my handle bar bag and would use it 20-30 time a day for photos and short videos. I took over 25,000 pics with the D10 and could not be happier, unless it had better low light but well its not built for that.
I used it to take pics under water , jumping in water falls, in the ocean and in heavy heavy rain storms it never got water in it and i never checked the Gasket as some nit picker suggested I just opened and shut the doors on the camera and used it like a tool not like a piece of surgical equipment which it is not.
After 17mo of use it is scratched banged up dented and a more beautiful than when i first bought it, The battery life is excellent, the wrist strap is awesome, it stands on it's own without a problem and the rounded design makes it so much easier to hold onto. the large display is easy to read and the buttons even now after all the use have not failed and not stuck once.
bottom line THIS IS THE most rugged Point and shoot i have ever owned and i have owned a few

We have used the camera daily for about 5 weeks while snorkeling above Hawaiian reefs. During this time we have taken over 400 digital pictures of flora & fauna living on reefs. The camera is really quite remarkable in that it can be adjusted to have a focal length of 35 – 420mm (35mm film equivalent) by using settings for an optical zoom, tele-converter or digital zoom. When this unusually wide range of focal depths are combined with wide ranges in shutter speeds, apertures, ISOs, & image resolutions, it offers the user significant capability for photography on land & underwater. In addition, we have found that: (1) one lithium ion battery is adequate for daily use of the camera if we charge it every evening; & (2) using a 2GB SD Memory Card is more than adequate if we transfer the photos to a computer daily.
Pros:
• Camera takes excellent pictures using any of the 3 modes: automatic, program or scene selection
• Instructions in user's guide are very good
• Photos are excellent when used on land or underwater – but see cons
• Normally photos are crisp & clear (sunsets, animals, fish, corals, foliage)
• Employs a clever strap mount – but see cons
• Will float when combined with the Sealife float strap SL 920
Cons:
• Camera's rounded body & edges make it: 1) difficult to hold; 2) unstable when set on its base; & 3) it rolls onto LCD screen or lens & special care is required to prevent damage
• When used underwater, the strap mount can be inadvertently disconnected, allowing camera to sink to bottom, while the strap mount & float strap stay at water surface
• Design of the 14 push buttons on the camera allow saltwater to seep beneath the keys
o To prevent salt deposits from eventually making keys inoperable, the camera must be soaked in fresh water for several hours after each use
o After soaking, the keys should be flushed with fresh water while being depressed multiple times to ensure saltwater is replaced by fresh water
o Water drops should be removed with a "lint free" cloth or paper towel, & Qtips
• Gasket for the battery/SD card is on the edge of the large access door & the gasket for the printer/USB is on bottom of the small access door. Both doors (battery/SD memory card & printer/USB connection) trap water that can invade the inside of the camera
o In each case, the user must hold the door upside down when opening it & immediately wipe water drops away from the hinge, spring, latch, inside housing, door & gasket with Qtips. Some of these places are very difficult to reach inside the camera. Otherwise, water will seep into the electrical connections when the door is opened.
o Before closing the doors each gasket must be carefully inspected with a hand lens (5x – 7x magnification) to be sure that small debris (100 microns in size & smaller) of lint fibers, skin flakes, & tiny sand grains have been removed by cleaning the gasket & camera door frame prior to closing the door or water can seep past the gasket into the camera after the door is closed.
• If a vigorous water removal procedure is not followed, the camera is certain to be damaged by leakage passed the doors into battery/SD & printer/USB compartments & the keys will eventually become inoperable.
Bottomline:
Camera is excellent for land & water splash conditions. Although underwater photos are excellent, the camera is not robustly designed to prevent eventual water damage.

Comments about Canon PowerShot D10 Digital Camera:
This is an excellent camera. I've used it extensively while diving on reefs and kayaking in Florida waters. It takes superb underwater pictures in clear water. I use it for microscopy and snapshots and it has been reliable. I've gotten zoom errors requiring repeated restarts while trying to zoom in on objects underwater, but this error doesn't occur above water. This is my second D-10. I managed to destroy the first by accident and had no hesitation about replacing it. Above water, at full digital zoom, there is a definite loss of resolution, but since most of my applications are close-range, this isn't a major obstacle. I bought this camera originally because of it's ability to withstand water pressure to 10 meters and have not been disappointed. I used it to record videos of a school of feeding sharks and was delighted with the image quality.

Comments about Canon PowerShot D10 Digital Camera:
This camera just survived a trip to the summit of Mount Washington with me. It experienced -15F at night and 10F during the day and the battery held up like a champ while my cell phone lasted less than 90 minutes in those temps. The other bonus to this camera is there are no moving external parts. It slipped into my chest pocket with ease without ever having to worry about it snagging. For anyone active, this camera is a must.

Comments about Canon PowerShot D10 Digital Camera:
The D10's underwater presets work very well in color, lighting, and in depth of field. Changing between scene modes is simple and the images it captures on each that I used are sharp and clear.
The only issue I encountered was at times the shutter speed on the underwater setting was slow trying to capture quick movement cleanly. Improving the optical zoom on future revisions would be welcomed as well. 3x is not quite enough for underwater opportunities.
The size, button positions, and LCD display are well placed and simple to operate underwater or on land. This was an excellent choice for my purposes of snorkeling, beach use, and indoor moments in need of recording.

This is the best video camera for the money! My sister and I both got one 2 years ago to take to Hawaii. We used it for snorkeling with both still and video. We even shot video on Maui and you could hear the whales singing underwater on the video. We took it to the pool and took incredible shots of each other underwater. I've used this camera in the rain, during the Nashville flood and I love this camera! It doesn't have a lot of zoom, but it has a lot of functions and works really well in dim light!! I highly recommend it! It doesn't leak, but pay attention to the directions as far as cleaning and opening after use!

So far so good. Camera is everything I was hoping it would be except there is no way to close the lens. Must be because of the waterproofing of the camera. I have had it in water and it takes great pictures.

I bought this camera for a trip to French Polynesia knowing that all activities were around water. Decided to take a few dives while in Bora Bora and took this camera to depths of 60-70'. I'm sure manufacturer wouldn't recommend this but the camera took amazing photographs at this depth and had no leak issues. I'm an advid SLR user and had those cameras on the trip but was truly amazed at how this inexpensive camera performed above and below the water. Would be great camera for any outdoor activities around moisture, and does just as well indoors.

I bought this camera to use on a family cruise. While in Barbados we snorkeled with the sea turtles and I got amazing still shots and videos. In Antigua we snorkeled and again got some good shots. Then in St Croix we snorkeled and I got some great pictures as well as video of squid. The color was great especially with clear water and bright days. My only wish it that I could use it diving! It also takes great above the water pictures. My daughter took it to Ecuador where it was very rainy and they traveled in a dug out canoe up a river to get to their site. So it's great for any outdoor adventure!

Comments about Canon PowerShot D10 Digital Camera:
I'm really thrilled with this camera. My sister has one and after seeing her amazing photos (so many of which I thought she took with her SLR!), I finally gave in and bought one. As a mother of a 3 year old the toughness of the camera is perfect. I can just throw it in my bag without a case and not worry about breaking it. Its a tiny bit slow (I'm used to an SLR), but I'll take the convenience over the speed. I find that I take more photos now because I have the camera handy and don't have to worry about treating it too gently. But even more important than the toughness is that I don't have to sacrifice photo quality.
The image stabilization is also excellent. I've been really surprised with the sharpness. I would def buy this camera again.

For a point and shoot digital, I have no complaints except that my wife has a very slim Nikon digital point and shoot that will fit in a suit or jacket pocket.
This one is slightly too bulky to fit in an inside suit jacket. However, all things considered it shoots photos as good or better than my Nikon D40 SLR.
I highly recommend this one.

This is a great camera. Among the waterproof cameras available is the best in quality of the photo and speed of the shooting. During water sports is possible to take great pictures in short time. Great product. What I think is not so great is the design, it could be much nicer, but the good quality compensates.
