This is a great all in one camera. It is fast and with 13.1 megapixels takes great photos. The LCD screen is huge and clear. It has many settings such as kids and pets, sports, beach, snow, there are too many to mention. It takes video in HD and if you have an HDMI cable, you can hook it up to an HDTV and relieve the experience as if you were there again. The only negatives I have are that the viewfinder is very small and the controls are tiny, so if you have large fingers, it may be a problem. The battery life is long. I used it on a 6 day vacation and did not have to recharge once.

I bought this camera for my girlfriend's birthday. She loved how sleek it was, and the red color makes it very classy for a girl. The camera is very easy to use and fits easily in a pocket. However, when i looked carefully at the photos, i noticed that they are pretty grainy. So if quality matters to you (as it does to me), I would look for other cameras. My gf had an older hp camera, and she was always complaining about the quality, and this one didn't seem to be much of an improvement, although the 12 MP clearly helps. I have a Casio point-and-shoot that takes impeccable photos, but it's been discontinued a long time ago. I would have bought one of those instead if I could.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital Camera (Red):
The Canon sd780 is a wisp of a camera (I bought another because I lost the first). I use it for stills because it is tiny and easy to carry. The video capture is great, however, you can't zoom in-and-out while videoing. Set the zoom you want before switching to video. I have the underwater housing for this camera and have taken decent snorkeling videos. The sound is muffled, however. I recommend the Hero or an 'unsurrounded camera' if you want decent sound. The camera is great for family videos, sports plays, and dance rehearsals.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital Camera (Red):
I had this camera before and got a speck of dust in the lense. Camera shops wanted to send it to Canon to be repaired, but it was going to cost $100. I bought a refurbished one here for [$]. It is the smallest camera I have ever owned, and it takes wonderful pictures. Red eye is infrequent, and the outdoor pictures are phenomenal. There is a very short lag between photos, and it is a very easy-to-use point and shoot camera.

This was an upgrade from the a540 for me.
I love the rechargeable battery. When this camera was new and I had no dSLR yet, I used it constantly! So compact, I forget it's even in my purse. I did not have the charge the battery for 2.5 months of CONSTANT use! I charge it every now and again just in case the standby wears off, but I have had it since January 2010 I believe, and have only charged it a small number of times.
I have gotten some amazing photos out of this camera, it has held up nicely. The macro is great.
The only thing I miss that the a540 had is manual controls.

pros- takes amazing outside shots, i set it for indoor when i want to shoot inside. great video, very crisp and clear. zoom, flash work very well. action shots need to be taken on a manual setting. auto will not capture them due to delay. easy to use- good flash choice for the most part. color shots outdoors is unreal, crisp and clarity
cons:lag time can be long...especially when on auto. this is my only con.
love this camera...my second canon product...drops easily into a pocket.

You really get you're money's worth!! It takes amazing pictures even when it's zoomed in 12x digital zoom!
The one thing I don't like is that in order to develop them into 4x6 pictures, you have to go through each one and crop a little from the top and bottom (meaning you can't alter the aspect ratio)which is kind of a pain. But other than that, it's really a fantastic camera, indoors and out. A great small size literally fits in your pocket!

I have been taking pictures for a long time, but this is my first time I've bought canon and it is really a good choice. It's simple, easy to use and takes good pictures. In addition I love the design of this camera. One thing isn't convenient to me is that it takes some time before taking another picture. Overall it's a good camera for the price.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital Camera (Red):
I'm not the most technology-savvy person, but this camera is easy to use. I bought this camera when I lost my Panasonic Lumix. It has many of the same features, but is lighter, more compact, and has some added features (i.e., HD video).
My one main concern so far is that the speed in between taking pictures is a bit slow, even though I have a high speed memory card. Additionally, in a few instances, the flash has turned itself off in dim light situations. The battery died quicker than I expected.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital Camera (Red):
This camera was purchased to replace a Canon SD 360 that we had used for several years. The SD780 produces much crisper images than the SD 360 and has far improved shutter lag time. The images are not as crisp as a Nikon D70 DSLR that I have, but the convenience of the camera's size means that we will not miss quick snapshots.

I purchased the PowerShot SD780 after reading positive online reviews on a few sites. I have a bigger digital SLR camera but wanted to replace my ancient Canon Elph, which I loved to bring in my purse when I am out and about. This cute little red camera is perfect so far! The size is amazingly small, the photos are great, and I adore the bright color. I am very happy with this purchase!

I love this camera in every way except the zoom. I would not buy this camera again, unless it had a better zoom. I am hoping I can return it and get one exactly the same but with a better zoom. I thought it wouldn't bother me so much, but 3x's is not very much. I wish I had heard this review before I purchased the camera. It really is perfect in every other way. I hope I can find one that zooms more like 10 x's, I"m not sure even the 5x's would cut it for me.

My wife had a Canon SD1100 (with viewfinder) which was stolen on our last trip. This was purchased as a replacement but the veiwfinder appears smaller and the viewfinder image is smaller than the actual photo. We returned it and are waitting to review Canon's new models.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital Camera (Red):
I love the vibrant color red of this camera, but that's not all... The SD780 IS is the size of my cell phone and easily carried in the palmb of my hand or a pocket. At first I was scared of how small it was and worried it would be difficult to use. It has turned out to be a great feature. I would recommend always using a neck or hand strap, as the camera body is quite slick and easily slips through fingers.
I am also inpressed by the image quality and clearness of the LCD. I have been having fun capturing shots of my active 3 year old with no trouble thanks to the image stabilazation and short lag time in turning on and taking back to back shots.
Great Little Red Camera!

I use this camera at least once a week and so far so good. This is the 2nd SD700 series that I purchased. The first one failed to turn on due to the on/off switch. The thing that I like about this little camera is picture quality and compactness of it. The things I don't like about it, it's too complicated to operate for a novice user.
