SMALL ENOUGH TO CARRY EVERY PLACE YOU GO FOR THOSE SPONTANEOUS (GRANDKIDS) PICTURES... A GREAT CAMERA FOR MOVIES, MADE IN JAPAN, ABOUT 1 sec TO BOOT UP - FAST SHOT TO SHOT TIMES 1.5 secs, AND WITH THE FLASH ON ABOUT 3secs...I LIKE THE FLAT BUTTON ARRANGEMENT ON THE BACK OF THE CAMERA AND HAVE NO TROUBLE PRESSING THEM EVEN WITH MY BIG OLD HANDS, THATS JUST ME THOUGH) . I CARRY MINE IN A LITTLE PHONE CASE( THAT HAS A BELT CLIP ) FOR FAST & EASY ON OFF THE BELT. AT THE STATE FAIR I TOOK 450 PICTURES AND 8 SHORT MOVIES ON ONE BATTERY CHARGE(SOME WITH FLASH IN THE BARNS AND EARLY MORNING SHOTS).

I purchased this to replace my SD1000 and while I was happy about the image quality and IS, I was quickly disappointed by the removal of features I had become accustomed to on the SD1000.
Options such as time-lapse video and long exposures where questionably stripped away from the SD1200 even though they have been available in both the SD1000 & SD1100.
What you are left with is a camera meant for a user who is content with just 'pointing & shooting'. If you are looking to squeeze a little more out of your pocket cams, you are probably best to look elsewhere.
Everything with the SD1200 just felt 'stripped down' in my opinion. Even the manual for this camera was a mere flyer compared to the book you receive with other Canon point & shoots.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital Camera (Dark Grey):
Went to Disney and bought the camera specifically for that pilgrimage. That and finding 35mm and places that develop 35mm are almost extinct in these parts.
Anyway, it was so easy to use: point, zoom in/out, click, and done. That's it.
The only thing that took some getting used to was the lag time, but i learned how to anticipate it and my picture taking is much improved. Have not tried the video feature yet.
Cannot go wrong with this purchase.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital Camera (Dark Grey):
Takes excellent stills and video! Have used quite a bit in various situations the past month since we got it - very happy with results. Menu is very easy to use and to find the "perfect" pre-set settings. Can also easily use the manual settings. This is a great camera that is so small it's silly NOT to take it everywhere and use it all the time!

Took camera on a two-week vacation to France. Took well over 300 photo's. All were of exceptional quality, well framed, and easily modified.

My husband had the older version of this camera since college, and it worked great... until I dropped it! I'm expecting this camera to last at least that long. It's super user friendly, and if you size down the picture size, the memory card fits a TON of pictures.

This is a great little camera! It works exceptionally well for a camera this size, has a short lag time, and a decent zoom. It has a custom white balance! Low light and flash performance are OK, but on par with other ultracompacts I've used.

This is my second point and shoot - upgrading from an old 2 megapixel to 10. THis camera is good quality for the price - it's not amazing, but for only [$], why not!

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital Camera (Dark Grey):
Settings and controls are easy to use.
No complaints at all with regular photos, however; when using the flash I get light splotches or 'orbs' on the photos. Research indicates this is due to dust being present on object being photographed and suggested 2 options: Clean object free of all dust--LOL or to lighten area and take w/o flash.
This is very unusual to me. I've never heard of this issue with any other cameras.
Overall satisfied except the issue with the flash.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital Camera (Dark Grey):
This is a small but high functioning basic digital camera - easy to toss in my bag or my back pocket. The only bummer is that I know folks with older Canon power shot cameras and they have a cool single color function (for example - the photo is in black and white except for the highlight color, say red - and so anything that is red in the photo really pops out). I'm sure I can figure out how to do something similar in editing, but it seemed like a cool function on the other models.
Otherwise, the photos are great and the camera was just what I needed - plus a little extra umph!
Great battery life too - Didn't need to charge it once on a week long vacation (with about 300 photos!).

Use for casual photography. Very compact and lightweight. Overall Satisfied with camera.
Was not given rebate as Canon said that I didn't register my FORMER product. I felt that Cannon's rebate was misleading!

Bought them as birthday gifts for grandkids. Picked this model for its features but specifically for the optical viewfinder. A healthy rebate was the clincher.
They all get great pictures in full auto. Steep learning curve.
Unfortunately, they all hold it at arm's lenght to use the LCD, negating the viewfinder but making the stabilization handy.
Would buy another but ran out of grandkids.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital Camera (Dark Grey):
I am not a professional but my computer's photo software is in daily use. This camera is exactly what I wanted. It's compact, carried in my shirt pocket, with features simple to use, and produces a quality picture. The automatic focus and zoom along with a battery life of 600+ pictures gives me plenty of opportunities to take multiple pictures of the same object. I am familiar with Canon Quality and Consumer Reports rates this camera at the top of the line. After much research for a sub compact camera that fulfills it's advertised promises, I settled for this and recommend it without hesitation.

I bought these cameras to document our fieldwork with our product line. I was very impressed about the quality of picture and clarity. This is essential for us to convey field findings and pass along information within our company. I really appreciate that the size of the camera makes it very easy to carry without needing a large space to store it. I currently am carrying this camera in a cell phone case when I'm out on site.

This line of Canon Cameras, the SD digital point & shoot, is a great buy. The photographs are crisp & clear, and they're very easy to use. I take MANY photos in various settings throughout the year, and I've never really been disappointed with it. This model, SD1200 is not quite as good as the SD 750 or 1000, which are much more expensive. But the value for the dollar you're paying is well worth this buy.

The SD1200 has some big changes over the previous version, SD1100, and is the smallest, best designed Elph I've owned!
I've owned many models of Elph, this is my 5th, so my review is aimed especially at other serial Canon owners.
This is a great camera and I would highly recommend!

I purchased this camera as a gift for my high school age son. Within minutes he was taking all kinds of photos, including zoom, action shots, roaring fire. All the images turned out very clear. Great, versatile camera.
