This is the second of these cameras purchased and is was purchased for my 14 year old daughter. My wife has the same camera but slightly older version which she is happy with. Good battery life on the rechargeable and simple controls. The camera is built very solidly and fits easily in their purses. The Canon A1100, purchased for my older daughter has a little more in the control area and has an optical viewfinder (an optical view finder for me personally is a must have for bright light days) at the trade off of slightly larger size. The A1100 (not the SD1200) also uses AA batteries which can be a plus for foreign travel. These are small issues and the camera performs very well for it intended purpose.

I had an olympus 770 before, which broke. This CANON model is more practical because of its weight and size. I can carry it in my purse. The problem I have been having is that the automatic mode does not produce very sharp pictures. The flash overexposes the pictures too.... Perhaps I need to learn to use it.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital Camera (Orange):
I found this PowerShot after I did all my reserach for buying a new digital camera,. I was a long time Sony Cyber-Shot user, but I'm glad I gave the Canon PowerShot a shot. Easy to use intuitively, compact, light weight & a cute color selection, I picked Orange, the color stands out well, so it's hard to forget at home and easy to find in by bag.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital Camera (Orange):
We had to buy a new camera when our grand daughter was born. I used to try to be creative with photography years ago with my film SLR and several lenses and lighting options. I took a semester college class to learn the fundamentals of photography and developing. Now I can do as much and more after reading a few paragraphs and using what I would have thought was only a point and shoot sub compact camera.

I now carry my camera with me everywhere. I fits right in my purse and adds almost no weight. It takes great pics and is very cute. Love the orange.
I have only had it for about a week so I haven't tried all the features yet but so far I am very pleased. B&H was the only place I could find a small camera with a viewfinder. I am very satisfied.

I bought this camera for work and have had no problems with it. Additionally I've had to train a few other people how to shoot pictures with it and interface with computers. The camera is easy to use and takes great pics. Fun color and perfectly portable.

The Canon PowerShot is extremely easy to use. I'm a woman with small hands and it suits me just fine! Easy to follow directions on how to access the various functions. Additionally, the price was excellent and the 'no tax no shipping' feature with B&H made it a sweet deal indeed.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital Camera (Orange):
I use the SD1200 IS for social events and sightseeing purposes. It is small, sturdy, inexpensive but produces reasonably good shots. It also feels like a well-built, high quality camera, not a plastic toy of cameras of its price range. My only complaint is that it does not shoot as fast as I have expected, particularly in less than perfect lighting conditions.

We first bought a Nikon Coolpix s203 but was very disappointed with the quality of the images, so we returned it to the store where we got it. I have used Nikon for years and so I was hesitant to look at Canon, but was a difference. The images zoomed in at 100% was much better than the Coolpix. We are very happy with this PowerShot [...]

This looks/behaves like all the predecessors on the Canon line. Noticeable improvements are the cool transition effects of the on screen menus. It also automatically sets the picture type based on lighting.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS Digital Camera (Orange):
This camera was so good I had to buy two of them. Of course the second was a replacement for the one my wife dropped off of a dock into the water. Easy to use right out of the box with the automatic settings usually nailing just what you need. You do have to remember to hold the button 1/2 way down until the auto functions adjust to capture the shot, but this happens usually in less than a second.

I have two children that are, typically, always moving and this camera is fabulous. I purchased an 8GB, Class 6 card which, I think, makes a huge difference in reducing the amt. of time it takes the camera to save the picture and prepare for the next. The PowerShot has a variety of features for outdoor settings (night, sunset, foliage, etc.) which has come in handy as well as a "kids & pets" setting which I use for most my day-to-day photography. We have had different models of Canon PowerShot cameras for more than 6 yrs and this model proves to be just as wonderful as all the others while affording me a compact camera that I can throw in my tiny purse and use easily with 1 hand.

I used to use PowerShot S410 along with my Olympus E-300. However S410 died and I had to have the replacement camera that my wife can also use.
