I purchased this as a "lowest common demoninator" TV to test DVDs we author. Well, it fit that bill perfectly. So, yes it plays a disc.
The picture quality is inexcusable, truly horrible. Jagged edges, jagged text, wacked display ratios...and the remote control is the most un-user friendly I've ever seen. White papers could be written about how NOT to design a remote.
AVOID the combo unit.

This was an awesome Black Friday buy that I was so excited to get. Unfortunately, I'm thinking this may be one of those great buys that you end up paying for in the long run. So, I bought to take on our camping trips and put in the trailer to watch movies on. Right now, it is sitting in my daughters' room up on her dresser. She was watching a movie and we noticed the following: remote control really stinks (you have to keep pressing the button to get it to work), and the screen gives off some sort of shadow when it is higher than the viewer causing distortion in the picture.

I have only been using this product for 1 week. It is a second TV for bedroom. I have not used the DVD player, but operation seems simple and convenient. Picture quality is fair to good, hopefully better with DVD. Easy set-up and remote & other features work good.

This product is competetively priced but it's not user friendly. The subtitles always come on with every new disc you put in and you have to manually turn it off every time . . shouldn't that be the default setting? The remote has a jillion buttons that are tiny and very difficult to read yet alone understand. . and so on!

I wanted a tv/dvd combo that wasn't too small, and for a good price. This is an amazing television. The picture is crisp and clear, the sound is great, and for an amazing price. The only downside, is that the remote control is set up in a really strange way that doesn't really make sense. Other than that, I am extremely happy with this purchase!

The TV arrived in good condition and gives a good picture. Price was right. I would give 5 stars except for the remote control operation. It is very poor. Unless you are directly in line with the front of the TV the remote will not work. It has no sensitivity. I thought I would buy a universal remote to see if the problem is the TV or the remote. I cannot find a remote compatible with Coby TV's so that is another negative. The TV Takes a long time to start itself up and it reacts very slowly to remote control inputs. Probably would not purchase Coby again.
