V.I.O. POV Power

Comments about V.I.O. POV Power:

Reason for buying:
To replace the use of the rechargeable batteryies as you I would have about 2 hours run time on a full charge which will only display as three bars on a new set of 2900mAh rechargeable batteries.

In the box:
Power Hatch, Cigarette lighter adaptor cable, and Direct Hard-wire Adaptor cable.

How do I use mine:
In the car with the cigarette lighter adaptor.

Issues:
Power Hatch runs power directly to the VIO unit but does not hold any power itself.

Once you have turned the engine off the Power Hatch will cut power to the VIO right away thus if you were recording the file will be corrupted.
To overcome this issue, save before turning the engine off which requires me to learn a new habit as I normally would save and power off after I have turning the engine off with the batteries.

The time date will be reset each time.
To overcome this issue after using the Power Hatch, insert batteries or you can reset the date and time every time you use the unit.
I find this to be time wasting and annoying.

Does it work:
Yes the reason for 3 stars is due to the above issues which I think could have been overcome by allowing the Power Hatch to hold power itself.

I ordered this for my VIO POV camera as the 4 AA batteries would only last for about 1.5 - 2 hours max recording. The unit has worked very well as expected.Only issues I have with it is that the two power cords (cig adaptor & Hard wire adaptor) have a curly cord and I would have liked to see a straight cord exscpecially on the hard wire cord. [...]. I ended up just using a bettery tender exstension as it is a straight cable and has been great. Now I can record for hours without spending a fortune on batteries.
