The PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave is part of an ultra-versatile radio slave system, and is dedicated specifically to the Nikon i-TTL flash control system. It simply slides directly into the camera's hot shoe, and there are no special settings to make or modes to call up. Use the camera, on-camera flash, or flash commander controls for flash compensation, zone and ratio control. It supports single or multiple dedicated flash units.
The FlexTT5 is the ideal addition to any Nikon i-TTL flash system. Since this system works on digital radio technology, it can support i-TTL operation around corners, out-of-sight, or in bright sunlight.
The FlexTT5 is a "Transceiver", meaning it can be used either as a transmitter placed into the camera's hot shoe, in combination with another FlexTT5 unit on the flash end, or as a receiver, with a MiniTT1 transmitter-only unit placed on the camera's hot shoe.

I have been desperately waiting for this system to come out since they offered it for Canon almost 3 yrs ago! After an unsuccessful experience with Radio Poppers I was THRILLED to see these available from B&H! I have the TT1 Mini and 2 Of the Flex 5's and they work flawlessly with my 5 Plus 2 Pw's that I already have and add so much more!! Remote manual control with a commander flash, SU800 or the AC3 (I also have and works well) And there are no cords, they store easily in my bag, fire very reliably, and generally just Work! In true PW fashion! They are worth every penny! BUY THEM! Not to mention the uses are expanded to studio strobes like Alien Bee and Elenchrome lights. The Hyper Sync is amazing! Super high shutter sync with studio strobe power = awesome! Highly recommend!! Oh and the construction is surprisingly stronger than it looks!! I dropped one of my Flex 5's with an SB900 on it about 6 ft on to a hardwood floor and the only thing that happened was the battery door popped off. It was easily put back on and works just as it did before. :D I have shot several portrait sessions and a wedding with them in the 2 weeks that I've had them and I am completely satisfied!! The only minor thing to get used to is when you make a settings change it requires a test shot to get all the lights calibrated... It's easy to get used to though.

I purchased two TT5's and one TT1 for my Nikon D700 to pair up with two of my SB-900's to give me all the creative options available with Nikon's CLS, but without the restrictions of line of sight. They work great in terms of always flashing when they are supposed too, and they are super lightweight and compact, and give you a lot of options. However, they have one major flaw. Combined with an D700 and SB-900 they over-expose by exactly 2 stops every time. I am working with PW tech support, but thus far they indicate they cannot reproduce the issue. However, I have seen multiple forums indicating the same problem. I am confident this will be worked out in time with a S/W fix, but it's frustrating to deal with until then. Overall I am happy with the flexibility the PW's provide, but they need to work the bugs out before putting the product on the shelves.

Pocketwizard has done it again with another amazing product. The Flex TT5 is very conveniently sized and responds amazingly to to Mini TT1. It has a great range and the thing ?I like most is that it works by way of radio waves and not by infrared beam. It can be triggered around corners and through walls! It as a 3/8 tread for easy mounting to a light stand or tripod. and is extremely well made. I would recommend this product to all levels of photographers.

This is one AMAZING little piece of equipment. This is the best add on product. It is definitely a must for every photographer of all levels (beginner, semi pro, and pro alike). The distance it can transmit at is truly incredible. I used it to activate 3 different Pocket Wizard Flex TT5's and one was 500 ft away. Amazing, I say!

Comments about PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon i-TTL Flash System:
I struggled initially with the Pocketwizards when they came out for the Canon system and actually sold them. Because of the prowess of the Nikon flash system, I even moved away from Canon to Nikon and then they came out with their Nikon versions. Initially I was very sceptic but I got to try them out at a show and was convinced to buy them and give them another go. I'm so happy they now provide the reliability that you would expect from wireless radio trigger combined with all the flexibility of the Nikon CLS system.

Not as reliable as expected in TTL mode, but good use in manual mode. Great Range. The hot-shoe doesn't lock the flash properly sometimes. I've dropped my SB-800 a couple of times already.

Comments about PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon i-TTL Flash System:
The Flex TT5 units are a bit more complex than the older Plus 2 transceivers, but it's certainly worth the learning curve. They can work as simply as the older units, but have the huge added benefits of TTL with Nikon flash units and the high speed sync. Definitely recommend reading the manual completely and updating firmware. I also love the lower profile when mounted to the camera hotshoe. I bought three to start and will be adding to that for sure.

The Flex TT5 works completely with my other Pocketwizards to control the lighting ratios of my Alienbee strobe lights. Combined with another TT5 I can adjust the settings from my camera. Perfect lighting solutions.

I use this mounted on my SB-900 Flash mounted inside a soft box for shooting food and other tabletop photography. It is beyond easy to set up right out of the box and performs just like I want it to. Every once and a while there's a misfire and the exposure is off but over all, highly recommended, low profile, well worth the investment

Comments about PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon i-TTL Flash System:
Replacing my reliable PW PlusII's, this system now has complete iTTL and manual control. The great thing is that it drives both my studio (Alien Bees via AC9) as well as my on-location setups (SB800 & 900's). Setting up is a breeze, just need to remember to follow instructions and power up top-to-bottom (remote flash, then PW, then PW-on-Camera, then Camera). I use it mainly to control my flashes manually, with the AC3. Yes, it's expensive, but the system more than covered its cost (4 units) on the first assignment. And hey - no more "line of sight"! Anyone wants to buy 2 x SU800's? :)

Comments about PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon i-TTL Flash System:
I used this unit on a wedding last week and did things with it that were impossible before. I used it at twilight with a beautiful cloud formation and exposed for the sky and filled in the subject using a 1/650 of a second shutter speed. The sky was beautiful and the bride and groom were lit beautifully. They loved it. I also was able to use it in a large restaurnat where line of sight would never have worked. There is a bit of a learning curve but it opens up new possibilities for remote flash both indoors and out.

Comments about PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon i-TTL Flash System:
I have two of these now, and love them! Easy to use and set up. However, I wish they would sync with the older Plus II's at 1/250, I can only get 1/160 of a second. Also won't work with Sekonic 358 without changing settings from default. Other than that, they work great, and I love using them!

You have to turn them on with your flashes and camera in the right order for them to work right... So read the manual or go to PW website for great tutorials. Bottom line though, they work! Great not having to be tethered to your equipment.

The FlexTT5 saves me time. No more metering. When I'm doing weddings you just don't have the time to be metering when your using an off camera flash. The flex gives me the extra time to get those great shots. It makes my job so much easier.

I have had pocketwizards for a number of years and found them very reliable and easy to use. The FLex adds several new layers of capabilities and yet is backward compatible. I havent taken a large number of pictures with the new setup, but have found the one i did take were VERY easy to use and produced great results. For the extra $20 I would recommend you buy two Flex vs on a flex and a mini.

i love this thing and the way it works. i just don't like that its so big and bulky. i guess its ok for remote flash but i would never use it on camera. get the mini for that, as flex makes the camera look like u`r a ghost hunter :)
it does work great tho` and makes ur life easier (at least mine).
