This flash is a great bargain offering both tilt and swivel for greater versatility. The built in diffuser is ok, certianly having a bigger one and better one would be better. The flash works well with my Sony A300. It can really give a better overall color to pictures its certianly making indoor pictures much easier!
The downside is that it is VERY noisy and can take a bit of time to recharge. I've gotten more than 80 pictures out of a set of batteries though. After these batteries are gone I do plan to add rechargables to my stock.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars simply because it isn't the top of the line, the noise and the smaller range.
It is VERY easy to use!

As a beginner I didn't want to send a lot of money on Equipment right away, so this was a good price for me.

This flash gun is great, and except for the fact that i didn't read the instructions and lock it in place, which resulted in the flash falling off and breaking the diffuser...it works like expected. Great on my Sony cameras!

-I use the flash as a replacement for the notoriously harsh on-camera flash. [...]The features of this flash as excellent, you get a substantial "bang for your buck" - but bear in mind, you are buying a $100 flash, not a $500 flash. By this I mean it "feels" cheap from it being made out of lightweight plastic but if you take care of your equipment there is no reason it would be an issue for you. If you are shooting combat shots in Iraq diving for cover, maybe this isn't the flash for you. Then again, an Alpha probably would not be your first choice either, lol Overall I am very pleased with the product and the price.

I've used this flash on paying jobs, it hasn't let me down The best thing about it: Manual controls. You can set ISO, F stop, power 1-1/16th. The built in bounce card works perfectly. I also use a Sto-fen Uni diffuser with it.
Batteries lasted through about 4 hours of shooting at variable powers. I plan on buying another Bower for use on my bracket. I do a lot of nighttime shoots. Setting 2 bowers at 1/8th power would give you super capability to keep light even.

I have bought the $450.00 Sony flash for my other camera then got this one for about $100.00.The bottom line is the Bower is close to the Sony in use. I am satisfied with this purchase.

I haven't found any problems with it yet. It's very powerful so it's good that you can adjust the angle of fire. You definitely want to bounce it off the ceiling when indoors.

It does exactlu what I would expect a well made flashto do. I particolarly like the tilt and swivel. I've had at least 3 flashes that did the same thing, & this was the primary selling point. I only wish that there was a little less plastic, and more metal.

I bought this to replace my Sigma 530 dg Super I burnt out (crossed some wrong wires blah blah blah).
Things that are great about it:
It was surprising similar to my Canon 430 ez speedlite. It works well with my Sony a700 at an iso of 200 to 400. It over exposes a bit but thats not a problem. at 100 iso it was soooo dark. White balance is great! Recycle time with regular energizer batteries is as advertised. Manual controls are pretty good. Once again it over exposes a bit. I'd say by 1 stop. It also works with a minolta to standard shoe adapter firing from a pc cord. Its compact and the shoe mount is built pretty sturdy.
Things that aren't so great about it:
The only draw back is the recycle noise. I could never use it at a wedding. Sounds like a laser gun charging up. pretty loud. And no pc cord slot. If not for that I would have given it 5 stars
