The Bower SFD680C Digital Shoe Mount Flash is an economical flash, with TTL flash support for digital SLR cameras. This version is dedicated to the Canon digital SLR camera line, and fully supports Canon's E-TTL II flash operating system.
The flash features an auto-zoom flash head, which auto-senses the focal length of the camera's lens, and adjusts itself accordingly, within the range of 28mm to 85mm. It can also tilt and swivel for complete creative control. Its light output can be adjusted with a range of +/-1 EV in 0.5 increments (5 settings). It is an ideal economical all-around flash for any digital or 35mm autofocus SLR shooter.

This is my first shoe mount flash since I've gone digital. It has been great getting used to using one again. It is a fast flash, and though the description (and even the box) doesn't say so, it comes with a diffuser! I have enjoyed it so far and look forward to all it will allow me to do that I've been missing the last few years. Hope this is helpful.

I bought for use at weddings. Its was nice, affordable, and cool features. I tested it indoors and worked well, but on its first day I out, I took about 150 shots. There was a drizzle for which I shielded the camera and wasn't even taking shots, but a few moments later it fried. You may think I let it drench, but no way I'd let my camera near water. So unless its overly sensitive to mositure, I don't understand why it fried.
Its baby brother (SFD35C) worked better and longer and is still going. Maybe I should downgrade its replacement.

I brought this flash for my wife, and while it works fine the on/off switch is constantly being hit while in her photo bag. It's too easily switched on and in a location that makes it easy to do so.

I do a lot of real estate photography indoors, This flash works good if you bounce off a wall or ceiling, or use the difusser otherwise it's very harsh and direct. I also own a Canon ex 480, I use this as a second camera setup and it works but not as nice as the canon but for 1/3 the price it's not bad.

Right out of the box, and i noticed the infrared covering was cracked. Reload between bursts could be faster, and it seems to affect the autofocus. If you're shooting in manual mode, she's a great flash.

If you want a flash that works... do not buy this flash. I bought it to shoot a wedding and it worked for about 15 shots and that was about the life of the flash. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra money and buy a flash that works.

I was a bit upset after this flash decided to call it quits after day 3 uses. Though when it did work, it did a good job.. the fact that the flash ready will not come on anymore, makes using it impossible. I ordered the recommended batteries, I was nothing but careful, and it still quit working on me. I would also like to add that it is a bit large compared to similar flashes.

I am a professional photographer branching into portraiture for the first time, and after much research on the best, most affordable flash for my very small budget, I settled on this flash for my Canon 40D. Having not tried other shoe-mounted flashes, and having only used it a few times now, I thought this flash was reasonably sturdy, and performed well for my first portrait session. However, while simple to use, I found a little bit of wiggle room while mounted on the shoe, which to my novice mind may or may not be a problem. Recycle time is acceptable, and the flash is accompanied by a diffuser in the box. The full swivel head makes creative portable lighting possible, and for shutterbugs on a budget, this flash would be a good purchase.

Great performance, with a lot of variability with rotation and pivot. The included diffuser is a bulky piece of opaque plastic that covers the lighting element and doesn't necessarily fit like a glove - it fits, but can be easily dislodged. Its size also makes it annoying to pack in the bag. Overall very happy with the purchase...not regretting buying a non-branded flash at all.

I used this for a couple of fast paced concerts this past weekend and was impressed by its recycle mode. At one point I had my Canon 30D on sports mode and it snapped off three maybe four shots within a split second. I love that it keeps up with my lense as I zoom in it increases the projection of the flash and vice versa.
