I just got this Printstik last week. It's a pretty cool little gadget! I love that it has the paper roll internal so that I don't have to carry around a ream of paper with me everywhere! This printer is great for traveling! Easy to use although it doesn't work with Windows 7. It says there are updated drivers but they didn't work with Windows 7. I also wish it were color but since its a thermal I can understand that. Printing is pretty slow but what do you expect? No ink to buy wich is wonderful! Might have to ORDER the paper since i'm not sure that any store around here carries it. All the down sides to this are nothing compared to the portability of it! Very small! about the lenght of a ruler and a little bit wider. If you need to travel, I also bought the iConvert scanner which is the same length as the printer. My whole office fits into my purse! :) This printer is great!

I have received the Printstik printer, it was very easy to set up and prints exceptionally well. I bought the printer to have the capability to print on a boat. It works great, takes up very little room, easy to stow away and allows printing of weather maps and emails for those need it now situations.
Only problem is the thermal paper cartridges... NO ONE seems to have them available. 20 pages doesn't go far, and regardless of the price if the cartridges aren't available the printer is worthless. I ordered a 6 pak of cartridges from Planon, the manufacturer and THEY were out of stock! Still waiting..... if you can't get the cartridges a great idea will end up in the waste basket !

Comments about Planon Printstik PS900 Portable Thermal Printer:
The printer containing its paper roll is half the size of a one pound box of spaghetti. Very convenient when traveling to print boarding passes, address directions, notes and memos. Resolution and contrast are adequate for thermal paper. Slow printing speed not a problem for above uses. Spool-up USB cable is very convenient. The tear-off serrations are okay but slide a razor blade along the top for really clean bottom edges. Win 7 users must download drivers from their web site; the ones on the CD will not work reliably. I've not used it long enough to comment on durability.

No one makes anything like this. It uses thermographic paper, as in older technology, but no inks or toners---perfect for travel, along with its small size. I use it to print out airline boarding passes.

Comments about Planon Printstik PS900 Portable Thermal Printer:
I am on the road 2-3 days a week. I sometimes work from very tight and enclosed work spaces. I rarely need to print but, when i do, it is important. I bought the PS900 model and am very happy with it. It is slim, light and fits right next to my laptop computer inside my leather case. The PPM count is slow (3 i think) but, i rarely need to print more that 3 pages at a time anyway. The olde time fax machine/Thermal paper takes some getting used to but, once you learn how to flatten it out, you'll be fine. So, overall, i am loving this printer. Now, for the part that i don't care for. Customer Service My PS900 printer came with a power cord and a USB cable. The power cord works fine. However, Planon packed the wrong USB cable. The one in the box did not fit into the printer. I left a VM for Planon technical support and they returned my call within 2-3 hours. They told me that any camera USB cable would work. I let them know that since a retractable USB cable was advertised, that's what i wanted. Technical support directed me to customer service. They also told be to just use any camera USB. Again, i stated that i wanted the retractable cable i was supposed to receive. The rep told me they would mail the cable to me in 3-5 business days. It is now more than a week later and i still don't have the cable. I called Planon again today, advised that i called last week and requested status. The rep could not find any record of my call so, he took down my information again and advised that i would get the cable in 3-5 business days. Well, i may get the cable next week but, i don't have a good feeling about my chances. Yes, most people who have a digital camera will have the proper USB cable lying around the house but, this shouldn't matter. I hope Planon is not running a scan by not providing the advertised retractable USB cable. We will see. -noir11
