Canon 2188B001 58mm Circular Polarizing Filter
Canon Circular Polarizer - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
If you're out walking on a lovely day - in the mountains or at the beach - and you want to get a fabulous shot of a cloud-filled sky or make the water seem more saturated, then a polarizer is the way to go. This filter is the best way to make the clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease the reflection off the water. You can also use this filter when shooting into glass or windows since it will, again, either increase or decrease reflections.
If you're shooting black and white and want to simulate a threatening storm, try throwing on a #25 Red filter. The vista will take on the appearance of an imminent, ominous storm.
Along with a UV or Skylight Filter, a polarizing filter should be a part of everyone's gear bag. It can turn a run-of-the-mill image into a stunning, creative photo by increasing color saturation.
Note! Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems)

great for clouds and landscapes. Also enhances sunrays. Makes colors more vivid and true to life. When I first tried to mount it, I was unsuccessful but a B&H rep walked me through and it was really my fault that I couldn't mount it at first.

I use this filter when I'm shooting outside in bright light. I use it mostly when I shoot landscapes or portraits. I feel like the filter helps the colors pop, the blues are brighter and the reds are brighter. I like using this filter on my camera, I feel like my images have come out better than ever before because of the polarizing filter!

It works extremely well. It really brings out the blue in the sky, and helps with other colors. Also reduces reflections on water and windows, depending on what angle you're shooting at.
Easy to use, and attaches easily. It can also darken computer screens and televisions without darkening the surroundings.

It took a bit getting used to. Works great, but adjusting it can easily adjust the focus ring as well. All in all, a must have to bring your photography to a quality level.

I take landscape photographs and I have so often looked at calendars, postcards and large framed photos and wondered how the photographer got the images to look so good. My images colours just werent as vivid. I thought they must be doing something in photoshop until it was suggested I try a polarizing filter. So I have been using it for a week and I am SO HAPPY. My images finally have the pro look. If you want to have awesome looking images with vivid colour its well worth the money to get a polorizing filter.
