The MegaPlug AV 200Mbps Ethernet Adapter from Action tec allows you to extend your home LAN without the need for costly and time-consuming wiring. The kit includes two wall-plugged Ethernet bridges; each plugs into an AC wall outlet for network connectivity.
The system can communicate at speeds up to 200Mbps, allowing you to leverage your home's electrical wiring to set up a network. You can even use it as part of a wireless network to help eliminate "dead spots" in coverage.

Works as advertised. It bridges ethernet frames at ~100Mb/s over the neutral line of your existing AC infrastructure. The only caution would be if you live in a shared electric environment. The device supports encryption but you need to go to their website for the sequence instructions to set that up . Caveat - won't work with some isolation powerstrips (IsoBar, etc.).

I used it in a dead spot where my wireless network did not reach. Rather than buy a stronger router, given my current one is still working, I tried this. Also I needed a Tivo compliant device and it works great with my HD Tivo Box. There is something to be said about hard wired devices where wireless falls a bit short. It is VERY easy to hook up. The only negative things I can think of (thus far) are the bulk of the device and price. It could be less expensive and a bit more streamlined.
