USB cable in from a G4 Mac. USB cable in from Windows XP PC (Both cables supplied) USB Cable into Epson R210 inkjet printer. Switch is powered by USB bus. Load small PC Driver, Download Mac one from IO Gear. Set the same preferred printer in each driver. Bingo! Switches computers automatically for each print job without delay. LED lights for the computer currently printing. Most excellent and simplicity itself to install and it works as expected first time!

I am using the 2-Port USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch by Iogear to hook a desktop and laptop computer to a single HP All-in-one printer. The laptop runs Windows XP and the desktop, Windows 7. It has been difficult to network these two computers with success being iffy and intermitent. The switch always works and was easy to install. Perhaps because of the two different operating systems, the XP laptop gives an audible alert sound when the desktop computer is printing and on occassion, the Windows 7 machine puts up a message saying the printer is not connected when it really is. We have learned to ignore the sqwaking, complaining computers and just let the printer and switch do its work!

We've connected to computers to one USB printer and we are getting automatic switching as advertised. Setups were not quite as simple as some other devices, but no problem for the average user.

Comments about Iogear 2-Port USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch:
This printer auto share work well with windows vista but not windows 7. When I connect it to two vista PC, it work great. However with one PC on win7 and the other running on vista, only the vista work. win7 doesn't seem to recognize it and would not print. Anyway, I still got a very great deal from B&H Photo, [$] with free shipping. Best deal I could find on the net!

As I have one printer and two computers, this is a handy item to have. It also included the cables to connect to the PCs. All in all, a very good value for the money.

I use this product to share a printer between two PC's on separate networks.
It works well except that is gives me an false error message on most prints. Still works though.

On the company website the description of the GUB211 is this: "IOGEAR's USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch enables two PCs and/ or Macs to easily share* one USB printer, multi-function printer, or USB device. No more plugging and unplugging between your computers. Simply send the print job and the switch automatically makes the swap for you."
The product did not deliver the advertised functions for me. It was glitchy (intermittent malfunctions) hooked to my Canon MP610 multi-function printer (MFP) and Tech Support at Iogear, although courteous, couldn't solve the problem. And this will apply to every user: the so-called automatic switching is not automatic because it requires manually choosing a setting from a popup menu each time the alternate computer wants to print. That ain't automatic. (2 iMac dual core Intel computers, OS 10.6.8, Canon MP610 printer)

We use computers to print name tags for the children of our church. By using the printer sharing switch we are able to use 2 computers with 1 printer! We don't have to buy as many printers and the speed of printing the name tags is not compromised at all!

Comments about Iogear 2-Port USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch:
This is my second Share Switch and is far superior to the first. I use it to print from a pair of Desktop computers, one with Windows XP and the other with Windows 7, 64 bit. The switch doesn't hesitate to make a connection and is nearly as fast as being connected directly. It was very easy to install and I would recommend it to anyone trying to use one printer for two computers.

I needed to share a single Canon PIXMA IP4700 between two computers. I had first tried a manual two-way KVM, but was less than pleased. Hooked up the automatic--the key word--Iogear printer sharing switch with the included USB cables. Software installation was easy. With the Iogear switch in place, my need for the printer at one or the other of the two PC's is a transparent operation. Just give a print command from either system, and everything works flawlessly. Couldn't be more pleased. Thank you Iogear, and thank you B&H for offering this item

Using HP non wireless printer with iMac and Macbook. I had to make a regular sized CD to install the software (mini CD comes with unit but not recommended to install in Mac slot drives). Both computers automatically connect when asked to print. No more swapping usb ports... yay!
