The RS2i, part of the Reference Series from Grado, is a high-quality dynamic open air stereo headphone designed with the discerning listener in mind. The little brother to the RS1i, the RS2i has mahogany wood housings to eliminate resonance and provide terrific tonal quality. Vented 40mm drivers are matched to within 0.05dB and provide a wide frequency response of 14Hz to 28kHz.
Foam ear cushions and an adjustable leather headband provide outstanding comfort and stability for hours of fatigue-free listening. The ultra-high purity long crystal copper wire voice coil and 8-conductor connecting cable provide clear detail with excellent control over lower and upper frequencies. The cable terminates in a standard 1/4" plug for connecting to a wide variety of audio devices. Regardless of genre, the RS2i provides clear, smooth, realistic audio.

Comments about Grado RS2i Dynamic Open Air Supra-Aural Stereo Headphones (Wood/Black):
These cans are open and therefore really only can be used in environments that can deal with the sound. Additionally when you have a quiet music passage you will hear the outside world, they do not isolate at all. Other than that these are simply awesome. They have great sound clarity, mids are tremendous, bass is clean, but not pounding - if you are looking for basshead headphones these are not for you, if your looking for clarity and good soundstage these are excellent. For Classical, Rock, Jazz, Blues they are amazing. For Electronica they are good, but not great, for Metal and bad recordings not so much. You will hear all the hisses and scatches in the bad or old recording. I have some old '30's jazz and you can tell right away that the source is not in great shape. These headphones push the mids and therefore really bring the vocals forward, also guitar and piano.
The other thing is they have a real vintage vibe, especially with the wood cups, they have a real World War II radio operator look to them, doesn't bother me, kind of like it actually, but it's not the fashion foward stuff you see many people wearing these days, but they sound better!

Comments about Grado RS2i Dynamic Open Air Supra-Aural Stereo Headphones (Wood/Black):
I have a huge library of music painstakingly imported into my computer home net without using compression so I can listen to the actual music. I have the music go thru a DAC and into an AMP then to the RS 2i's... WOW. I had other Grado headphones and they were great but I was always envious of my buddy who had RS 2's.
They are wonderful, comfortable and allow me to escape to an environment of pure music pleasure.

Comments about Grado RS2i Dynamic Open Air Supra-Aural Stereo Headphones (Wood/Black):
I mainly use these headphones for producing but sometimes I'll use these instead of speakers to listen to music. The sound is unbeatable. If you care about the sound of your music, buy these. I tried both the RS2i's and the RS1's and there wasn't enough of a difference to warrant the extra money in my opinion.
