I was going to get drives with 5 year warranty instead of this one, but since I am buying two, and since I am putting them into a Drobo (so if something happens to one, I can pull it out and replace it and the Drobo will take care of handing the redundant copy), I'm not as worried about durability—not to the extent that I wanted to pay for the next grade up in the Western Digital line. Also, to whatever extent there is something "green" about these drives, so much the better. Since I'm just using them for backup (not an active read/write scenario), I'm not so concerned with speed. And there are two empty bays in my Drobo, standing in the ready for when the device gets closer to full and I can buy another one (or two) of these drives to expand my storage capacity. By then, they'll probably be even cheaper! Although I am very pleased with the current price…

This is is an expensive problem to have. There should be a warning about the start up speed of these drives when used in a RAID.

I bought 5 of these, all at the same time, when I bought my Drobo on May 26th, 2010. Today, November 7, 2010, I had a second hard drive fail. I would really consider another drive for a Drobo if I were you.

Comments about Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green Internal Hard Drive:
I put this 2TB hard drive in my Drobo, which is a storage solution similar to a RAID array. It has performed as I expected it to perform so far. I have four of these drives in 1TB size that have performed well for over a year. They make subtle noises when in use. I like that the drives save energy by shutting down when not in use. This automatic shutdown doesn't interfere with my work flow since I'm using these drives for long term storage. I use quicker drives without automatic shutdowns for my video editing work. Overall, I'm happy with these drives and will continue to use them for my Drobo machine.

I use this fast drive for the Time Machine backup of my MacPro's 2 internal drives. Used in an eSATA dock the backups are blazingly fast and easy!

A 2TB internal hard disk for my desktop.. Helps to keep clutter of large capacity files, pictures and own movie clips in order. I use HP comps.

Its a hard drive. It has 2TB. You plug it in, it stores data. Not really much else to say.
I've always had good luck with WD drives, and expect this one will work fine.

Comments about Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green Internal Hard Drive:
This is a great drive. I've been running these WD Green drives for a few years now with zero problems. It doesn't have the 64M cache, but it's still good enough for playing blu-ray ISOs, games, and whatever.
I am able to run three of these drives with a power hungry video card, processor, and two sound cards all off a 650W power supply.

I have now purchased 4 of these drives to update and enlarge the hard drives in my Mac Pro tower. They were incredibly easy to install. You need to format them for the Mac, but it is quick and Easy with the Disk Utility.

I use this in my DROBO to have secure-ish storage of my digital photography.
I like the speed, reliability and the size (capacity.
Still a little pricey, these things go down all the time.

I don't know if this is WD's fault or B&H's, but the last drive I added to expand my Drobo failed (that ominous clicking sound) and had to be sent back to WD for replacement. [...]

Since buying a Canon 5D Mark II, my hard drive needs expanded by orders of magnitude.
This was the largest internal hard drive I could find, for photo backup, and so far it's perfect. It's quiet and cool, but way too big to use for the operating system. Perfect for a second or third internal drive.

We use the 2TB Sata drive with a Drobo. It works fantastically. I would recommend this drive to anyone who wants a highly-reliable dummy-proof workhorse of a drive.
